Help with building my haf-x

Yup yet again another noob here, though i figured this would be the best place to come for some help.
I recently inherited a haf-x case and basically need help deciding on parts from here on in, im not looking to build anything to expensive anything i7 based is out of my league.
i have a budget of 2,000 cant afford to go over, and definitely would prefer some cash left over from that haha.

What purpose? Gaming?

$2000 will build you a great performer.
Do you have a monitor? OS? Peripherals?

I use a Wolf King warrior keyboard for gaming (first person shooters)
Welcome to Wolfking USA - Warrior

and a Logitech MX 518 mouse
Newegg.com - Logitech MX 518 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse

I use a headset (Plantronics Gamecom) so have little experience with speakers.
