Building New Computer

Ok, so I'm deciding to make a new PC by the end of this year. I'm willing to spend around $1,000 +-100. I just need some recommendations and advice for what to buy,if what I chose is good enough, or if there is a better alternative of the items i chose. I already looked some parts up. It'll be great help to me. The parts I chose are:

Case: HAF 932; thinking of HAF X since it has usb 3.0
MoBo: EVGA X58 SLi LEl; saw an ASUS with usb 3.0 not sure if i should get that one
CPU: Intel i7 930
RAM: Corsair XMS3 2x 2048MB PC10666
VRAM: 2x EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB, want one with HDMI for my tv
Power: Ultra LSP750 750W; not sure if i should go corsair 750w modular, is it enough wattage
HDD: Seagate 250GB 7200RPM; i have a 500gb external and another 250gb internal from another pc
Disk Drive: Lite-On DVD

I am planning on getting these parts on the internet mostly TigerDirect. I'm just lookng to use this PC for some gaming(e.g like sims3, civilization 4 starcraft 2 and some modern games),browsing( i like to have like 10 tabs open at the same time with some of them with flash games open), HDish moviewatching, and a lot of multitasking. Thanks for the help.

HIGHLY recommend you go with P55 instead of X58.
9800GT is an old obsolete card. Why do you want 2 cards?
Stay away from Ultra power supplies - in fact, stay away from Tiger Direct.
I do not trust Seagate drives since the firmware fiasco, I recommend Western Digital.

the p55 is the one with the usb 3.0, which maker should i buy, i saw was the one made by gigabyte but the socket is 1156 and the i7 930 is 1336.

the i got two vram because i dont know if it was enough to run programs lagless/smooth,what do you recommend.

i got a seagate external and its been working fine so i just decided to go with it,i'll look into western digital hard drives

why stay away from tiger direct? should i get the corsair psu modular or not. i do not want to go past the low $1,000 range

a gtx 460 would crush those 9800's, and be about the same price as 2 of them i think.

use an asus p7p55d board (flavor you wish) and an i7 920 (socket 1156)

modular is a preference. it lets you eliminate un needed wires in your case.

What is the purpose of your computer?

Have a look at some of the recent builds over the past few weeks. A few have already been built in your price category. You will get a better sense of what will give you the best combination of cost, performance and reliability factors.

Then put together a shopping list and we will review it for you and make suggestions.

We generally recommend Newegg. I have been having success with Amazon plus I save on the 9.75% state sales tax where I live.

Nikon, the i7-920 is a 1366. You mean i7-860 or i7-870, right?

The only reason to use 2 video cards is for gaming with SLI or Crossfire. It does not help ONE BIT with doing anything else. Keep it simple and get one good card, the 460 suggested is the only Nvidia card I'd recommend these days, and get the 1gb version.

I looked some of the products you guys recommended I'm thinking of getting the asus p7 with an i5 750. Ima get the gtx 460 1gb seeing as that is the only one in my pricerange. The only problem is hat suppoedly using USB 3.0 and data 3 will make my gtx card go x8 instead of x16. What is a good modular psu in the 120 range preferably corsair. I'm thinking of getting the haf x since it has USB 3.0 planning on keeping this pc for a log while before i upgrade. Will the usb3 slots in the case slowdown the gtx or anything else

If you are looking at the i5-750, look at the i5-760.

Here are the Corsair modulars. A 460 only needs 450 watts.

Everything compatible from what I've read. Is this good enough for extensive browsing, watching hdish movies , mostly playing games just one med setting like Starcraft 2, civilization 4 , and some fps games like around 40frames/s

@glc: yes i meant the 860/870. short term memory fails me yet again =D

the 460 1gb should play games like that nicely, and the i5 should be plenty of power to drive sc2 just fine. even my pentium dualcore drives sc2 fine, its my laptop graphics that hold it back for me

If you don't buy these parts in the next few days, something is bound to change.
