First boot, First comp, No pic...?

Well made my first comp and all seems to be in order. But for some reason it wont show a pic when hooked up to my TV. I have tried both HDMI and VGA and no luck. Tried on my video card as well as motherboard. Also took out video card and tried hooking to motherboard. Now I haven't installed ANYTHING at all yet. Also MOTHERBOARD light is green and a ok. Another issue Im having i I have the ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner (From new egg) and when i press the eject button. The drawer comes all the way out stay for about a second then goes back in. Dont know if drive is faulty or what.

I dont have my windows 7 to install yet (In mail) but wanted to make sure I can still get to bios... which isnt happening. Also be easy on me if its something obvious... Im VERY NEW to this.. ~_~

Also did what was on sticky forum on new builds... no luck.

PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

What brand is the power supply? Are you trying to start it OUT OF THE CASE as the sticky directs? Is the 4 pin CPU power connector hooked up?

I have the COOLMAX CL-700B 700W ATX 12V V2.3 Power Supply from newegg. It says it has a 20+4 power but it actually had a 24 power only.

And I havent tried setting up comp out of case.

Then you did NOT follow the sticky procedure.

There is a SEPARATE 4 pin connector over near the CPU socket in addition to the 24 pin main connector.

Good luck with the Coolmax - those are pretty low quality power supplies.

But is there a 4 prong connector on the mobo? If there is and you don't have a matching connector from the power supply to plug in there, then you need to upgrade your power supply.

i would recommend a corsaid 650tx or 650hx. greap psu's and they are all the power you need.

Well that pretty much fixed it... but I have a new problem. I get picture and go to bios and all using motherboards video. But if I plug in my ATI 5770 before I boot, no pic comes up. So now i am trying to find out if the card is bad... or maybe the MBs PCI slots are bad.... unless anyone else have any other ideas to why I am not getting a pic. Remember I still dont have anything installed including Windows...

So now both power 20 and 4 are plugged in. This also fixed my DVD Drive issue. Now to fix the video when my Video Card is plugged in...

The 5770 also has power connectors - that's what the 6 pin ones are for.

Didn't you read any of the manuals?

I wouldn't trust a pair of 5770's to a Coolmax. There's no such thing as a quality 700 watt PSU for much under $100.

if:
you get signal via onboard graphics, but not the standalone card

then:
you may have to boot into bios without the card, then set the primary graphics to slot 1 rather than onboard. put the card back in, and boot again. i had this issue with my brothers computer. if that does not work you may have to also disable onboard graphics via bios.

else:
you may...

A)have a bad mobo/pcie slot
B)have a bad psu that isnt supplying enough power to the card (try a different plug?)
C)have a bad card.

Cool I will try that when I get off work. Btw is there a chance that i am having this issue because I dont have windows installed? Also confirmed its not the card. Brought it to my friends and it worked fine.
