PC boots for a few seconds then shuts down
I am now running off my old p4 because the build in my sig is down. I took it all out the case with bare minimum parts and it seemed to work fine. I put it back in the case and it booted up, and then it just shut off. Any ideas?

I would reinstall one component at a time, besides the bare minimum, and see which one is screwing up.

If it works out of the case with bare minimum but does not work in the case with bare minimum, the motherboard is shorting out on something.

check all of your standoffs. make sure none of them are touching any part of the mobo they should not be, and make sure the mobo itself is not touching any part of the case.
this could also be a heatsink fan problem. make sure it spins when you try to turn it on, else it will hardfault shutdown the comp w/o saying anything (if its anything like my old comp when the HSF got stuck)

Test your power supply for the correct voltages. Put a paper clip across the green and any black pin on your 24 pin connector. See if your PSU stays on and if so what are its three different voltages.
If your PSU tests okay, then either your BIOS is shutting down your PSU or your PSU is shutting itself down, usually because it detects a short.

Check the spring tabs on the I/O shield to make sure none of them are stuck in a port and shorting it out.
