Greetings nerds, geeks, and geniuses.
I am here in need of help. I am looking to build an entirely new computer. I've built three so far in my life time but it has been a while since the last time I put one together. I've put together a wish list of parts I would like to purchase. I'm hoping to get some feedback from some of you who know your stuff. If I could, I would like to know if these parts will work together and if you could pick something different, what would it be? I'm dropping a lot of saved money on this and I'm looking to get the best bang for my buck. Right now, I already have these parts ready to be implemented in to a case. Acer S243HLbmii LED monitor Newegg.com - Acer S243HLbmii White 24" 2ms(GTG) Full HD LED Backlight LCD monitor 250 cd/m2 8,000,000:1 Max (ACM) w/Speakers EVGA 470 GTX vid card Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card 7.1 Surround sound Megalodon Headset G15 Logitech gaming keyboard like I said, those are the parts I already own. NOW here is my wishlist of the parts I need to buy. If anyone can let me know if they are compatible with each other or if I should buy a different brand/type for better performance or price please let me know... I'm hoping to build one that will last me 5 - 7 years. What do you guys think? Will these parts work well with each other? Should I have chosen something different? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much for your time! |

We do not recommend Socket 1366. It's not very stable and costs too much for what you get.
I'd recommend an i7-870 on one of the Asus P7P55 boards with dual channel ram. You also don't need a 1000 watt PSU. If you plan on running two of those cards in SLI, then maybe. If that's the case, the right mobo is the P7P55D-E Pro. Don't forget a hard drive and a DVD burner. |

I have a hard drive already. Forgot to mention that. 1.5tb Western Digital.
Also, I'm not missing anything.. right? What's it called... chip set or something? This mobo doesn't require that right? Ok so if I switch the processor and mobo for what you said, do I need to switch my ram as well or does it fit with what you mentioned? Thanks for the immediate response btw. |

chipsets are built into the mobo, every mobo.
yes, if you switch to the 1156 platform (i agree with this switch too) you would need to switch to dual channel memory, recommend crucial, kingston, a-data, corsair brands. all you need is 1333mhz ram, unless you plan on overclocking.
