new build issues. "no signal" on monitor.

I just built my first PC for Starcraft 2 purposes only.

Tower & PSU: Antec Nine Hundred w/ 650W power supply
Memory: OCZ Gold 6GB (3 X 2GB) 240-pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
HD: Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM 6.0 Gb/s
Monitor: ASUS 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080p
Optical Drive: ASUS DRW SATA 24X
CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4 GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core
GPU: ASUS CuCore Series EAH5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16
Mobo: Biostar TA890GTX HD AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6.0Gb/s
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Everything worked great and went smoothly for the first week and a half. Then one day after shutting down normally about 2 hours later I went to turn it back on and it booted but I got the scary "No signal" on my monitor....I screwed around with a few things took a stick of memory out and then put it back in and it booted fine with no problems.......NOW 2 days later the same problem has occurred and the removing of the stick of memory trick doesn't work. I don't know what to do but I do know it's not the video card or monitor because I still get the "No signal" when I plug it into the onboard VGA and it's not the monitor because I am using it right now on my laptop.

I tested the individual sticks of RAM and I can hear the Windows welcome melody every time I start up the computer but still "no signal"

What could this possibly be??? I've had the PC less than a month and if I have to start replacing parts I'm going to be severely disappointed.

Are you certain your monitor is set to VGA or DVI or the same port as whats on your computer? Do you have a second monitor to test with?

If your monitor and your test monitor is still not working then obviously that is not it. Your graphics card is probably not functioning. It could be an internal problem or it could be an external problem like a voltage problem or not being seated correctly. Maybe you jarred your graphics card or removed it and did not reinstall it properly while fussing with other hardware? Is there another computer you can test your graphics card on? Are you getting good voltages from your PSU?

If after checking all those things and it still does not work then it's probably time to RMA it to Asus.

Monitor is set to HDMI which is what I have plugged into the monitor to VGA card. My monitor works fine as I am using it on my laptop right now. I have never removed and reinstalled my graphics card. I can test my graphics card on my buddies computer and how do I know if I'm getting good voltages from my PSU?

Do you have the right power connector, I've read that you MUST have a 6 pin power connector for the card its-self.

or maybe you need a higher psu.

I have a 24-pin and then another 4-pin power connector from PSU to Mobo.

The card has a 6 pin power connector and that is what is connected to it.

My PSU wattage is 650W which should be more than efficient.

I removed the GPU and placed a single stick of RAM into the mobo and booted. Worked fine, does this mean bad GPU?? It's brand new and seems to work fine when the PC is turned. Fan is running smoothly and silently per usual when PC is running and everything seems to be plugged in correctly. Does the power connector that goes from the PSU to the GPU have be a specific one or does it not matter?

PC boots normally with all 3 sticks seated on the mobo. My next two ideas would be to try the VGA input on the GPU instead of the HDMI input but before I do that I am going to replace the GPU and see if it was just a connector problem. I will give update after I do these steps.

After reseating the 3 sticks of RAM and removing then reseating the GPU the VGA input on the GPU works just fine...HDMI input on the monitor works just fine but when the HDMI cable is connected to the monitor and GPU I get no signal. Maybe HDMI port on GPU is bad??? I cannot see how that'd be but......

What I did notice is that the HDMI is closest to the screws that screw the GPU into place and when the HDMI is plugged and the GPU is screwed in a small bit of tension is exerted on the GPU because the screws don't line up exactly right. I'm wondering if this pressure is causing the GPU not to work because once the VGA is connected it works fine and the VGA is furthest away from the screws. Could this be the issue??
