I'd recommend switching that PSU for a PC Power & Cooling, or an Antec.

Quality, as in reliability.

Would go with an Asus brand motherboard, MSI boards are more for the tweeker group and I believe they have had quailty issues.
The WD Black is the standard recommend HD. As for fans, the case you picked has 3 big fans in it, drop the extras. The CPU already comes with a Heatsink/fan so you don't need the Zalman.

btw was also wondering what the difference between sli certified and sli ready is? my power supply is certified but not ready. Plan to use it for an sli setup with 2 gtx 480s eventually, might even swap out gtx 480 for 2 gtx 460s or something along those lines to decrease cost a bit. Any thoughts?

I think its the connectors. Certified means tested and garranteed no problems. Ready would be capable, but you may have to use an adapter for one of the graphics cards. I'm not sure. I do know certified is better than ready.

I was thinking along the same lines: that certified is kinda like "nVidia tested, nVidia approved", whilst ready is just the PSU manufacturer has tested but not nVidia. Dunno, I've never been into dual cards so I have never cared to look into this. But yes, I'd go with certified over ready. That being said, I'd NOT buy an SLI-certified Deer-quality PSU over an SLI-ready Antec or PC P&C.

thx for the advice, no worries the PSU is SLI certified and Antec so no problems there. Any thought on 2 lesser video cards vs 1 good one?
I was looking at two of these instead of the one listed above ASUS ENGTS450 DIRECTCU/DI/1GD5 GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Newegg.ca - ASUS ENGTS450 DIRECTCU/DI/1GD5 GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card |

That's only 128-bit bandwidth. For gaming I'd go with at least 256-bit. One good video card is better than two crappy ones.

Yep one good is better than two fair or decent. I keep hearing dual cards is for when the top card aint enough or you already have one vid card and want more juice.

best way to go is the best single graphics card you can get. now here are the amd freaks recommendations to your build:
since you dropped the fans, go and drop the gpu cooler, you dont really need it if your case has decent airflow, and yours should, kick your CPU up to the 965, (i know its quite a bit more, but trust me, you will like the difference in performance.) the deneb core is a bit better with gaming, and the 2 extra cores is really helpful. starcraft 2 abuses all the cpu power it can get, as it is an rts, and you will definately bottleneck the system with that dual core cpu. you dont need an nvidia chipset to run an nvidia card. you only need it if you wish to SLI, which you A)wont need to, and B) dont want to get into unless you really want to. i recommend this board: Newegg.ca - ASUS M4A89GTD PRO AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard the amd 890gx northbridge is much more modern and powerful than the nvidia 980a, and the sb850 adds sata6gbps and usb 3 to your list of features, whilst saving you 20 bucks. now take that 20 bucks, and double the performance of your HDD, reducing load times by quite possibly 40-50% with the sata 6gbps western digital caviar black 1tb: Newegg.ca - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive ram over 1333 mhz is pointless in a gaming system, as the performance increase is only 2 to 3 FPS, i would say use this instead, and save a couple of bucks at the same time: Newegg.ca - A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333G (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1333GB2G8-2G make these changes, and i think the price should come out about the same, possible up a bit, but the end result will be a much more balanced, and powerful system to keep you happy for years to come.

The only Nvidia card that's best in its price class is the GTX460 1GB. Radeons own the other price points. For AMD processors, motherboards with AMD chipsets and Crossfire instead of SLI are more stable than NForce chipsets.
