Questions on quality

Hey guys, I'm a photography student looking for a new rig and my budget is $900. I've collected pieces from newegg and would like to know what you guys think. I have hard drives, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and wireless card. Here is the link to all the pieces on my wishlist

Link

Sorry if I've forgotten to include anything, its been a very long day.

Your link is password protected. You will have to list your parts in the body of your post.

Okay, you have the link to the memory pointing to the CPU.
The case and especially the power supply are not good choices. The case COULD be used, but not something I would want. It would be better to pick out an Asus motherboard. There are stickys here with recommended brands. (Power supplies, hard drives, motherboards etc.) What hard drive do you have? Do you have an operating system?

Rosewill cases are fine, but their power supplies are questionable. I'd recommend Corsair, Antec, or Seasonic. You only need 500 watts with those components.

We do not recommend Socket 1366 builds. Get an Asus P7P55D-E board and an i7-870 CPU.

For ram, get dual channel kits of DDR3-1333 or 1600 from Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, or A-Data.

Rosewill PSUs are no good. It is important to get a reliable PSU if you value your components. What Power Supply should I get? How many Watts? Who made it? Guide Inside.

Sapphire video cards, while good cards, have no end user support. Try Asus or Diamond.
Video Card Rating

Also, your memory and CPU links both link to the CPU.

EDIT: glc beat me to it, he's expert anyway
EDIT : so did quartet-man, I must be slow today

Just go JBOD with them (plug them all in). You can do that. Put your OS on your most reliable drive though....my best guess is that would be your WD. Use your Hitachi for stuff your don't mind losing.

Ok here is the update on components:

CPU: Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I7870
Link

Case: COOLER MASTER Elite RC-310-BWN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Link

PSU: Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Graphics Card: Any recommendations? I don't want to spend too much, maybe $150? But I want something that will run most of the recent games without problem.
I found this one: XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Link

RAM: CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1333C9
Link

Motherboard: ASUS P7P55 LX LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

There might be a problem with the ram you selected. The motherboard is dual channeled and the ram is triple channeled.

Maybe some ram like This one? CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMV4GX3M2A1333C9.

Or maybe this one? To leave room for upgrading?
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

Send a message via Skype™ to Nikon
xfx quality is mediocre at best, as stated above, go with an asus, his, or diamond brand card.

if your going to be gaming, i might recommend a 5830, but im not so sure how the 5770 is.

Do not go with G.skill or you will regret it. That was what I got with the system in my signature and it caused me all kinds of problems and expense. In regards to the Corsair, if you want to get 8gb, you'll want to get matched sets instead of adding more later.

A 5770 is an excellent card for the price, but be more brand-conscious. Asus, Diamond, or HIS - and Sapphire if you have to.

Thank you so much glc, quartet-man, Nikon, 0bit, David M, Asiecls, and hufigyed. You guys have been an immensely helpful and patient. A few more questions and I'm out of your hair. Which of these two graphics cards would you recommend?

$165 - HIS H577FM1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Link

$150 - ASUS CuCore Series EAH5770 Cucore/G/2DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Link

Normally I would go with the Asus, but I cannot find any reviews on newegg which makes me nervous. Also, glc, would it be better to get a motherboard like this?

ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Link

ASUS P7P55D-E LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Link

Go with the Asus video card, and the non-Pro version of the P7P55D-E.
