drop the psu to a 500 or 550 watt corsair unit, save a few bucks.

perhaps the easiest way to get the price down would be to go with an amd base build, using the phenom II 955 CPU with an asus m4a87td, that saves you like 70 bucks right there, and you still get a quad core CPU. running at 3.2GHz no less.

other options are dropping to an i3 of some kind, but ill let glc continue on the intel side of things.

The AMD radeon 6770 is coming out in about a month or so. Just so you dont regret anything.

AMD Barts Specifications Leaked | VideoCardz.com

the 6770 is competing with the gtx 460 1gb. gtx 460 = 5830.

if you wait you save money.

Change the VC from XFX to a decent and reliable brand such as ASUS, Diamond, HIS, PowerColor or Sapphire.

And the hard drive from Seagate to Western Digital. Seagates have been dropping like flies lately.

The video card seems fine to me, but I'd wait for glc to extern his opinion on it. He knows way more than I.

The HDD is good, one of the fast ones.

That's an excellent video card for the price.

For an Intel gaming rig, downgrade to an i3-540 if the i5-750 or 760 puts you over budget.

Keep the Corsair 650, the sale price makes it hard to beat.

On the amd side of the build would this be a good processor?

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 810 Deneb 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 4MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor HDX810WFGIBOX

that cpu is decent enough, though for a gaming rig i would suggest something with a higher clockspeed. im feeling as though that cpu would be best suited in a smaller machine with less cooling potential (95w would do ok in a micro atx scenario)

i would suggest spending the few extra dollars for a 955 or so, although performance should still be good.

Hate to disagree Nikon but the 810 is a very capable processor and will do very well in even a high end gaming rig.

hey, im not offended =D i like being enlightened.

my only fear was that some games rely on raw clock speed to play well.
