PCI Simple Communications Controller driver
Hey all.
I have just assembled an Intel pc consisting of: Asus P7H55-M Pro motherboard Core i530 processor 2x2gb Patriot Sector 5 PC3-10666 ram W.D 640gb black hard drive Corsair 650watt PSU Win7 64-bit Device manager is showing a yellow flag for the PCI simple communications controller driver. In researching this, it's an Intel chipset driver, so I grabbed the driver disk included with the motherboard and tried to update the chipset driver several times. The install seems to go well, but the device continues to show a yellow flag: driver not installed. I downloaded the latest driver from the Asus site and ran that too, but the result is the same. I tried to update the driver from within device manager, but that doesn't work either. I tried to steer the update driver function to the saved driver extracted onto my desktop, but it doesn't see it. The "read-me" file included in the driver download is really tough for me to understand. Can anyone help me out with this? |

Right click on it, select Properties, and under such, choose the Details tab. Therein is a list called Property, from there choose Hardware IDs. What do you see?

Thanks for the quick reply, N.K...
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_83831043&REV_06 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_83831043 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_078000 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_0780 I know the 8086 is Intel, right? I can't recal what the 3B64 is though, but I did check it out... |

Hmphf, I was hoping it'd be the ATK-something, as some Asus mobos seem to require the installation of this manually. Ya, it seems to be Intel stuff. I came up with this:
Microsoft Manageability: Management Engine Interface (MEI) and Serial over LAN (SOL) Device Driver Compatibility in Windows 7 You may want to read it through and see if it applies to your situation. |

Thx N.K.
I kept diggin' and there were a few others with the same problem with the same board. Turns out I had to D/L this "Intel® ME: Management Engine Driver for Intel 5 Series Chipset-Based Desktop Boards" from the Intel website http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...&dwnldid=18532. Some sort of go-between between this and that . Why it was such an issue in the first place mystifies me that's for sure. Thanks for helping out, Krusader. Appreciated. Edit: Haha! Just looked through what you found N.K and I see it's the same info. Props to you for your efforts. Last edited by pally01; 10-07-2010 at 08:16 PM. |

Ya, companies don't always talk to each other it seems. Glad you got it working; enjoy the rig.

Thanks. Not my gear though. Built it for a buddy. Gonna run it through its' paces a bit and deliver it Tuesday. Fairly quick set-up, but it doesn't seem as fast as I'd anticipated
