LGA 1366 Build - Thoughts on Component Selection

Hey everyone,

While I'm not a noob at building a PC, it has been a while since I've done it.

My needs are a mid to high-end system which allows for some growth, and overclocking abilities. I am not a gamer, but am into great peformance while remaining rock solid.

Here's the componets I'm looking at thus far.

I should note that I hae been buying stuff for the last several months, and what I have yet to purchase is the Motherboard, CPU, RAM and Video card.

Thanks in advance for your toughts and feedback!

Jim

The general thought around here is to use the 1156 socket due to tweeking that needs to be done on the 1366 socket and the X58 chipset and ram. MSI has had some issues with the quailty of their motherboard.
For the Fermi video card, you want the 1gig version

If you absolutely must build a socket 1366 system, the only recommended motherboard is the Asus P6TD Deluxe.

However, I would personally build an 1156 system with one of the Asus P7P55 series boards.

If you are not a gamer, why are you buying a GTX460?
