hard drive question

what is the difference between these 2 hard drives?

Newegg.com - Western Digital RE4 WD2003FYYS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD2001FASS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

they both seem the same to me spec wise, but they are $100 difference. The cheaper one says "bare drive" which im not sure what that means, but im guessing that has something to do with why there is such a price differnece. Is there any real significant difference? Would the cheaper one be reliable for storing movies?

The only difference I see is that the more expensive one comes in retail packaging which means it comes with cable, instructions and possibly software. Bare drive comes with nothing but the drive. Doesn't seem like there should be a $100 difference in price though.

WD RE4 enterprise SATA hard drives combine 64 MB cache with dual processors and dual stage actuation for lightning-fast performance in demanding server and storage applications. Technologically advanced acoustics minimize noise. Cool drive operation and enhanced reliability features help protect the drive and the data stored on it.
Click on the "Details" tab for this information.

The more expensive drive isn't intended for home use.
That said you can certainly buy and use it if a server for movies is what you have in mind.

Get the Black. The RE4 is designed for servers with RAID arrays that are running 24/7.

Admin note: Please don't open any more threads about your build. We prefer that all questions be kept in one thread for continuity purposes. Thank you.
