I would change the hard drive to a WD caviar black.
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive I would change to a boxed processor (comes with fan) or better yet get a coolermaster Hyper212+ Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 compatible RR-B10-212P-G1 120mm "heatpipe direct contact" Long life sleeve CPU Cooler Excellent motherboard (Asus) You can try the onboard graphics and always add a video card later, if you do add make sure you select the ATI 5000 or 6000 series cards, this is a good one and probably serve your needs. Newegg.com - HIS IceQ H567Q1GD Radeon HD 5670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity Make sure you get a quality power supply, Corsair, Seasonic, or Antec would be good. 500W should do the trick. |

I have a system running the proposed MOBO/CPU/GPU. They work great together in my experience for likewise use.
I don't see a PSU, did you have one in mind? I've never had very good experiences with Kingston ram. For around $10 more you can get G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) or OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) which in my experience is much more cooler running reliable ram and you'll probably end up saving yourself some $ in the long run. I'm also not too sure about the CPU fan, then again I am using the one the came with the MOBO, though I did use Arctic Silver thermal paste when installing the cpu and even put some on the GPU's heatsinks (same card as the one proposed in this build). At idle with the thermal paste the system CPU runs at about 34C/GPU at 44C, when editing and compiling videos in adobe premiere pro cs5 the CPU core temp never goes above 52C/GPU 68C. I am also using a different case (Antec 300) which may or may not be a better case for the same price. Last edited by Roughnight; 10-22-2010 at 06:12 PM. |

G.Skill has had so many problems lately that it's more like Gee!System-Kill! by now. You can't go wrong with Crucial. But Kingston is already decent, so I see no need to change it.
Right, you need a PSU. Antec is a good and well-recommended brand.

That case does come with a power supply, but I wouldn't trust it. Buy a case without a power supply and get a decent power supply.
Kingston's ram issues are in the past now. It's one of my recommended brands. |

I don't trust the CX series, jdeb - the CX430 is a known cheaply made unit.

, i ordered 10 of them a couple of days ago. No wonder I got a good buy on them. specs are not bad from what I can see. The rep told me I would be very happy with them. I usually use antec basiq and have had great luck with those.

Back to the original post - the onboard video is going to game just about as well as a 4350. If you are not going to game, use the onboard video. If you are going to game, stick some more money into your budget for a better card. The 5670 that jdeb recommended is about as low as I'd go in a low budget gamer.

Raidmax is not very good either.
Why do you think you need 500 watts? |

No, I don't like it. The power supply in that case is lousy, you are spending $200 on a CPU and aren't getting a video card, Seagate hard drives can't be trusted, and OCZ ram has issues.

I used to use Seagate drives a lot but lately I've been having issues with them, both internal and external and I would suggest that you avoid them for now. I highly recommend a WD Black for your main (OS) drive. If you need to go cheaper then look at the WD Blue. Greens are too slow for your OS in my opinion. Also the Blacks have a 5 year warranty vs 3 years for the Seagate, WD Blue, and WD Green. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Hard Drives,Internal Hard Drives,Western Digital,Black
If you are planning on gaming, you will get much much better performance by going with a video card and a lesser CPU. For what you are doing, you will not notice the difference between a 6 core and 4 core CPU anyway..
