greedo New Build Problems

Hello there guys, new to the forums.

This is my first ever time building a PC and well putting it together was a challenge, until i found you fantastic build guide while i was putting together my unit and it helped me no end.

However, i have gotten to step 17: initial boot-up and well, you guessed it.

From the looks of it, every fan is running, i have two case fans. The fan on the Graphics card is running, however nothing comes up on the monitor screen. And i dunno if was me being paranoid as no one else could smell it but i thought something was burning.

If you guys could point me in the direction of what may be wrong, i.e. simply things i may have missed. I have double checked all the connections, and everything is plugged into something, but there are so many connections coming off of my power supply im worried i have missed something.

I have noticed the LED light at the front to represent power hasn't lit up, but from the Motherboard manual it looks exactly like it should....

Here are my build specs if it helps:

Motherboard: Asus M4A785TD-M Evo
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555
Memory: 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333MHz
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 5750
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB
CD Drive: LG GH22NS50
Power: Corsair CMPSU-450VX 450W

Thanks in advance....

try looking at this too: PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about boot/no video problems! - New-System-Build - Homebuilt-Systems

that helped me, i had the same problem as you, for me it was #2 on that list (forgot to plug in the 4pin power supply connector). hopefully your issue ends up being something simple too!

Hi thehunt23!! how are you doing bro. Make sure that the memory stick is plugged in on the right spot. Because when the memory is not connected nothing shows on the monitor. So check the memory and also make sure that the power supply is powerful enough for the video card from ...

Right, so i have followed the helpful tips that you guys posted.

The Motherboard, power supply fan, and the graphics card fan all boots up and spin. However, i get no picture on the monitor, just a black screen.

I have checked everything is in tightly, only booted with one stick of ram, and taken out everything from the case.

Im at a lose to what it could be, i have read forum posts here and on other sites, and get conflicting information. I have read it may be a CPU fault, or a problem with the graphics card.

I'm not in the position to try these components on another computer as i have a laptop. Is it time to call someone in with more experience, or is it something obvious?

You re-seated everything? NO Bios on screen?

1. I would pull the video card and try to boot with the on-board graphics.

When i remove the D-SUB cable from the graphics card i get 'check signal' on my monitor. When i power it up it goes away and i just get a black screen.

I just removed the graphics card, and tried booting with the on-board graphics but same thing happened.

Send a message via Skype™ to Nikon
in some cases, it is possible that without the proper drivers, a video card may only support 'vga mode' output. this may be the case with you. the solution would be to use a dvi/hdmi/whatever output your card has ->vga adapter. you should then get a signal.

Have you removed the motherboard from the case - and tried it that way with onboard VGA video and one stick of ram ONLY? Have you verified that the 24 pin main connector and the 4 pin CPU connector are both connected to the motherboard?

Well if it was the ram he would be getting a beeping noise, so we know the ram is in right, question is what type of video card are u running, and have you installed it properly to the mainboard and case?. Final how old is your monitor
