Build the fastest PC core for under $500 online
What's the fastest pc you can build for under $500 buying all the parts online? Link me to all the hardware and give a total cost. I just want to see if there's any websites I don't know about that have great deals.

define fastest... most likely cpu speed, which differs based on core architecture, but will also be hampered by the low budget. your best hope might be a phenom II x3. we prefer newegg.com. there is tigerdirect, but i tend to avoid them based on reccomendations from other members of this community.

Fastest depends on which application or applications you plan on running.
How do you plan on using this computer?

It still needs an OS.

You won't be gaming with it - not with onboard video.

yep, even with this little guy:
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX245OCGQBOX and adding an OS puts it at $534.88 total Still can't beat Newegg's prices. That psu/mb combo really puts us in the playing field for a strong core system. A WD Black and the Corsair ram nails it shut. Just what the OP asked for. The OP didn't didn't say anything about gaming. I would think the Athlon should handle most games, and the Asus board has a pci-e slot to add a video card later. And just for giggles I dropped the case to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811154094 with the OS it totals $499.92 of course that's using the 2.9 Regor Of course SLeRic is looking for a better deal than what's found at newegg. I don't think he'll find it. Last edited by rwest; 11-05-2010 at 01:11 AM. |

Newegg's prices can definitely be beat. The reason we recommend them is for their selection and their customer service.
