Sandy Bridge
As will be evident, I am new to this and illiterate in every respect.
I am assembling a list of parts for a high end gaming computer that I would build with my 16 year old son. I intended to provide the parts to him as a gift this December and get started on the build right after that. In researching the parts, I came across mention of Intel's Sandy Bridge graphics technology to be released early next year. Would this new technology likely affect my build; i.e., should I be waiting on certain parts or go cheaper on a particular part in anticipation of replacing it within a matter of months ? |

I wouldn't let that affect your decision in any way. There are plenty of excellent graphics cards on the market right now, and they have always historically been better than any kind of graphics integrated with the motherboard or CPU. Sandy Bridge will probably not satisfy the gamers - it will be used in general purpose computers that don't play demanding games.
