Another quick build

Hello all
Iv found that running windows 7 on my MacBook Pro in Boot camp not only takes up space but gets rather annoying when you have to restart to get to it and no I don't like parallels. Anyhow I wanted to build this system just to edit music quickly with adobe auditions and upload to music to sites like media fire or sound cloud. I didnt want to spend more then 250$ and yes I have all the software. What do you think.....

software like that often demands a powerful cpu, lots of ram, and a fast HDD. i may be wrong about your particular software, but i use protools alot and it demands alot from those three items in particular.

The PSU on that system is probably a POS Ultra. You don't want that.

Worse - it's a PowerUp. Stay away from Tiger Direct barebones kits, they use very substandard components.

OK so what are my options in a 250$ budget?
I just need a simple system and adobe auditions will run on anything that has
2 Gigs Ram and a CPU running over 1.6...

Thanks

Pretty much a used computer for that price I suspect. Otherwise, a netbook is about all in that price range.

Ugh, I wouldn't run anything Adobe on a netbook. Netbooks come with Windows Starter, which is a POS as well.

I just thought that a netbook or used were about all one could get in that cheap price range. I am interested in looking at what George has come up with.

Edit: Not needing an OS made it more reasonable, but still somewhat surprising.

You could probably get a Dell out of the refurb outlet. They start at $279.

Inspiron Desktop 518N Mini-tower: Intel Core 2 Duo processor E5300
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
640 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
2 GB DDR2 Non-ECC SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs)
16X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Scratch & Dent

USB Keyboard / Optical 2-Button Mouse
No Floppy Drive / Microsoft Works 9.0
McAfee Security Center, 30 Day / 64BIT Operating System
Price........ $279.00

McAfee is more of a liability than the dent. Be sure to ask for the McAfee discount.
