What are the uses for the machine? You also have the link for the Hard drive (great choice by the way) under the HD and PSU.

The LX board is not a true SATA 6.0/USB 3.0 board. Get a P7P55D-E or if you ever plan on Crossfire, a P7P55D-E Pro.

I recommend 1.5 volt ram, not 1.65 volt.

HIS and Diamond are also good video card brands. The 6870 is the best card in its price class, tied with the Nvidia GTX 470.

You don't need a cooler till you start overclocking heavily.

What PSU have you chosen?

Ok got the link uptop fixed. This is the psu

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Gaming, COD WAW, maybe black ops, left for dead.
Also some video, watching I think.

As for the memory, I have always used Corsair. Is there something else you can recommend?
Thanks.

Better choice for ram?

NO!! Stay AWAY from G.skill. Here is some 1.5 volt 1600 speed:

Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G

That power supply is a bit much unless you are going to use Crossfire. 650 is more than enough.

Please upgrade the motherboard as I indicated.

Hello, thanks to everyone for helping completing the build. I have done all the changes except for the video card which I am trying to find a source for (will go with an alternate if I can't). I am pretty excited to get started!

Amazon and Newegg are both good in my experience. Newegg has the excellent customer service. Amazon tends to have slightly better prices.

Re video cards, when I do a search for a particular model (e.g. GTX 470), it comes up with numerous brands. Are these OEMs and the card is the same?

Yes, and if you want a 470, this is the one I would recommend:

Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

If you want one that's factory overclocked, get this one:

Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Note that a Radeon 6870 is tied with the GTX 470 as the best gaming card in its price bracket. You can't go wrong with either, it's personal preference which one to go with.

Before you place your order, please repost the full list for review.

It all looks good to me, with the possible exception of the Samsung optical drive. I think I'd spend just a bit more and get a full Blu-Ray burner - that's only a Blu-Ray player. LG and Lite-On have models that are right around 100 bucks.

EDIT: If you want 8gb of ram, I'd buy a single 4gb x 2 kit.

Newegg.com - A-DATA XPG Gaming Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GC4G9-2G

Everything looks good to go. Atlthough unless you are planning to overclock and use two cards in SLI or Crossfire in the future, a 650W PSU would be more than sufficient.

If you wanted to stick with an ATI card (since I saw that was your first choice on the OP), I'm going to be getting 6870.

HIS H687F1G2M Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

From what I've heard and gathered from the forums, either the 6870 or GTX 470 are equals. I just prefer Radeon over NVIDIA. Ultimately it's up to personal preference. HIS is a good brand for GPUs, and has end user support.

Thanks Windu. I am sure you are going to be hearing some pleas for assistance from me.

I'll wait until I get the 'stamp of approval' from GLC as he as very involved in this build too.
