Server SCSI problems
I want to build a dedicated webserver, and I have bought a old Dell PE750 for it to go on.
The current hardware configuration of the server: s478 P4 2.8ghz 4gb pc3200 RAM DVD-ROM drive Adaptec 39160 SCSI Adapter Seagate u320 38gb SCSI HDD The problem I am having with this server is installing a NOS. I decided to go with linux for the server (I do not want to fork out >$1000 for windows server), but I cannot get 3 linux distros (Ubuntu server, Debain, Fedora) to even see the SCSI drive, much less install on it. Any ideas on what to do here? I cannot seem to find anything to help on the internet. Last edited by Puffie40; 11-19-2010 at 02:06 PM. |

Why not buy a cheap SATA hard drive? SCSI isn't any faster these days and you have 2 SATA ports.
NCIX.com - Buy Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS 3.5IN NCQ Hard Drive OEM 3YR MFR Warranty - WD5000AAKS In Canada. Last edited by glc; 11-19-2010 at 03:28 PM. |
