PC Build; Issues and suggestions.
Hey everyone, my first post here
Hoping to get some insight from the community on a build I'm looking to go ahead with over the next few days. Anyways, let's get to it:My funds are somewhat limited, but I have considerable room to breath should someone suggest something "must-have". I'm aiming to keep between 1,300.00 - 1,600.00 CAD, after tax (~13%). I'm a web developer and a graphic designer, so some of the software I intend on running, at times simultaneously, include Adobe CS5 Suite (Photoshop, Flash Pro, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator specifically) Visual Studio 2010 Enterprise, various language specific IDEs (PHP, etc.), MySQL Workbench and various DB specific modeling/testing environments. I also intend on running 3DStudio Max 2011, and although it is an enormous resource hog (or can be) it is not a priority and I only use it for modeling medium complexity scenes/objects, not animating. In other words, I've seen some opinions on this topic swayed by the intent to run 3DSMax, but in my case it's not the primary purpose of the PC. Anyways, I'm not as hardware savvy as I wish to be, so I was hoping you guys could help point out potential pitfalls, compatibility issues, etc., and also share some ideas on better options in terms of cost (other retailers or products) and performance. BTW: All prices are in CAD:
Total: 1,408.86 + 188.59 Tax = 1,597.45 Anyways, thanks in advance! Hopefully I can get some input on potential hardware bottlenecks, compatibility issues, etc., that I might experience going with this build. Last edited by tomcatexodus; 11-20-2010 at 11:01 PM. |

Velociraptors are not worth the money. With that use, you may fill up 300gb pretty fast. I'd recommend a large WD Black instead. If you aren't going to be gaming, a 5830 is more video card than you need, and we discourage XFX due to quality and support issues.
I can tell that you are shopping at Tiger Direct. You need to take a look at NCIX and Newegg.ca. |
