Power supply problem
My first attempt at building a PC.
I purchased a case with an ATX power supply, then, after mother board, installed a SATA hard drive. So far so good. But then I installed my optical DVD drive into its appropriate slot and discovered that the DVD drive also uses SATA sockets. My power supply has only one SATA cable with two plugs about 6 inches apart -- you know, one plug at the end and the second one six inches down. No way can I mount the DVD and hard drive close enough to each other for the plugs to work. What can I do? Are there extensions to the cable, or do I need to buy a different DVD drive? BTW, my ASUS motherboard has seven SATA connection sockets. |

I have to question the quality of a power supply that only has 2 SATA power connectors these days - what is the brand and model of the power supply and what are the rest of your system specs? With very few exceptions, the power supplies included with cases are low end and can't be trusted.
