You have all decent hardware but we still need to know.... What is your budget? Which applications do you plan on running and how fast do you need to run them? Which country are you in?

NYC is my country, hehe.
The budget fits both lists, around $1200 minus some rebates and such, so around $1100.
THe most demanding program I will run is probably Fruity Loops XXL Pro at this point. Some gaming, some video editing, and other general computer stuff. I am also getting an apple macbook pro for a laptop, btw I should be able to move files from one to the other right?

Yes, you can move files between Macs and PC's.

Go ahead and list all your parts with links to Newegg so its easier for others to review your build.

850 watts is way more than you need with those components.

Ok, sorry about the links.

Here is the third version of my build with links, I think this one is the one. Cheapest set of the three and looks like it will perform just as well. What do you guys think?

Trying to figure out the link situation, they arent working.

OK got it, uploading links now.

Ok, let me just ask you guys what I should do since I am getting completely confused with this. I have put together four different shopping carts and they all are about the same price, just different combo deals. So based on the info collected so far from my rambling what is the best and cheapest combo that will work?

We are just as confused as you are, maybe more!

Please find a way to list all the components with the choices, all in one post. I haven't seen anything BAD posted in this whole thread yet.

The 5870 is a MUCH stronger gaming card than the 5770. For the best gaming cards for the buck, read this article:

Best Graphics Cards For The Money: November 2010 : November Updates

The 750TX is more than adequate, but the AX750 is modular for better cable management. The HX series is also modular, and is very good. The only Corsairs that are NOT so good are the CX's.

Hi, I am not a staff member, but will tell you something for future reference. They ask here that you edit recent posts instead of always starting new ones on the same build (especially when no one has even responded to the previous one). This is to keep the length of threads down and makes it easier for people to follow what is here. For instance your last 3 threads (or at least the last two for sure) could have all been in one post. Now, I confess, I often on other boards when remembering something else, debating or responding to several posts, makes posts in a row instead of a hugely long one and respond as I read down the thread, but here they want things more streamlined and in fact, it is easier to do here with the nature of posts that are often made here. This is an FYI for you FYI.

Edit: I will wait for others to chime in on the build. I see a lot of seemingly good parts. The memory I am not so sure about. There are guides here (stickies) that tell different brands to stick with or avoid on things such as power supplies, motherboards, memory etc. Memory is best chosen by the qvl after choosing the motherboard (finding one of the good brands on it), however, the memory in the system in my signature wasn't on it at the time, but worked better than one that was. So, keep that in mind and listen to those experts here.

As far as combo deals, they can be good sometimes, but don't be tied to them. Sometimes they might not even work together or not always have the best products for your needs or even prices sometimes.

In the $200 price range, the best video cards are the GTX460 1gb and the Radeon 6850. If you are a gamer, I'd get one of those. Preferred brands are Asus, Diamond, HIS, and EVGA. Remember that for gaming, the video card is the single most important component.

If you are not going to be overclocking, I'd get this ram:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

If you want a modular PSU, I'd get this one:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-650HX 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

If that's the case you like and you need Win 7 Professional, that combo is a good deal. Good CPU/mobo combo.

EDIT:

QM, that's fine what he did in this case, I asked for a repost to clear up confusion.

I will keep this in mind for future posts, it will take a lot of work for this thread to be repaired after I mangled it, lol.

Thank you,

I will not be overclocking the RAM, I do want to overclock the CPU though(just a little).

That power supply looks good.

I dont particularly need Win7 Pro, it is part of the combo though and comes out same price as if I were to get the Home Premium without the combo, am I wrong there?

I am not a serious gamer, so I have selected a card that is $179.99 after rebate; ABYTE GV-R583UD-1GD Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

I am just clarifying that I will most likely OC the CPU, will I need the higher RAM?

Now Im not sure if this should go here? But Im pretty sure it should...

So I am almost done gathering my list of parts, next will be putting the thing together and booting her up. I cant find any walkthroughs for this. Specifically putting the stuff together (which is a no brainer apart from the series in which to do things), then once everything is together and ready to go you press the power button and then.......? Bios stuff, making sure the BIOS sees everything, where do I go from the pressing of the power button? If there is a link to a thread like this that would be great also. (Newb)

Threads merged, one thread per build, please!

If you are going to overclock, get 1600 ram, the lowest voltage you can find in the 4 recommended brands.

Stick with Asus, Diamond, HIS, or EVGA video cards. I would take a 6850 over a 5830 in a heartbeat, it's only 10 bucks more!

HIGHLY recommend you do THIS before putting any components in the case!

PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

Oh, my mistake then, thank you for the merge.

Thank you for the input, revising the list again

You are missing an OS. Newegg has this combo deal with the RAM you chose if you want the Pro version of Win7....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...357.20-211-457

Are you certain you want the LX board over this board?....

You are getting the board and CPU as a combo, right?

David, he's getting the OS in the combo with the case.

No, there was no such combo.

Instead I just found a better combo;

Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I7870
Item #: N82E16819115213
coupled with

EVGA 01G-P3-1370-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

How is that?

So I told the wife last night about the build and the price, she gave me a green light. I open my newegg cart this morning and the price has gone up significantly! Even the shipping jumped from $11.00 to over $30.00. Am I missing something here? Or do their deals come and go daily?
