I'm having trouble with my 1st build
This is my first time building a PC and I ran into a little trouble....All the Hardware is in the case connected to the motherboard.
when I turn on the PC for the first time, it says "Boot & Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot Device & Press and key" I don't know what this means. Also in the motherboard manual I don't understand the steps to clear the CMOS header, can someone explain this to me? Here are the steps. 1. Remove AC power Line 2. Set the jumper to Pin 2-3 Close 3. Wait for 5 seconds. 4. Set jumper to Pin 1-2 close 5. Power on the AC 6. Reset your desired password or clear the CMOS data is the AC Power line the power supply? or is it the line connecting the power supply to the motherboard? and what is Step 6? |

Why are you trying to clear the CMOS on a new mobo?
That message means that the HDD has no OS installed, which is normal, it being brand new. You need to put your Windows DVD in the DVD drive and boot, this will install the OS and you'll be able to use the PC.

There are three pins near the CMOS battery. Two of those pins have a very small jumper that runs between two of the three pins. Move the jumper over to the adjacent pin and center pin, wait five seconds and put it back to its original position. This resets the BIOS back to its default state. Or just pull the CMOS battery, wait 30 seconds and put it back. In your BIOS, you may need to change the Boot order so that your BIOS boots from your optical drive first. For many motherboards keep tapping the Del key when starting the computer until your computer boots into the BIOS. This information is in your motherboard manual. Your AC line is the power supply cable running to the wall outlet. There is no AC inside a computer, other than inside the PSU cage itself. Your 20+4 cable that plugs into your mobo is all DC voltage.

should I do the Overclocking Navigator engine, Memory Integration Test, BIO- Flasher, Self Recovery System, Smart Fan Function, and the CMOS Reloading Program before I install Windows?

No, install Windows first. Install the drivers that came on your motherboards CD. Then do your Windows updates. Most of those features you described are only needed if you are having problems or want to make some adjustments.
Don't overclock until you learn more about it first. Last edited by David M; 12-04-2010 at 02:14 PM. |
