Budget Gaming Build
Hey all,
I'm looking to build a real budget gaming PC. I'd like some input from you guys as to whether or not the parts will work together, and whether I'm on the right track here. Note that the prices are from newegg.CA and as such are in Canadian dollars! CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ $111 HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM ($70) GPU: MSI N460GTX Cyclone 768MB @ $150 - 30MIR Optical: Samsung 22x DVD burner @ $17 RAM: Crucial 4GB DDR3 PC3 8500 @ $65 MOBO: MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard @ $70 Case: Rosewill Blackbone Black Steel @ $50 PSU: Rosewill Green Series RG530-S12 530W @ $60 - 20MIR = $40 OS: Windows 7 @ $100 Network card: Rosewill RNX-N300 IEEE 802.11b/g/n @ $30 Total: $673 + taxes (13%) + shipping = $760 + shipping Any suggestions? I would like some advice on the mobo (went pretty cheap on this item), the network card and the PSU. All the other items I am pretty confident with. Edit: I was also thinking of pairing it up with this monitor: http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...3sdr544md2hh96 This monitor is an LED 1080p, is 768MB on the video card enough to handle this? I'd like to play modern games on medium to high with 50+ FPS (nothing too intense though, games like SC2 and TF2). Also, for the mobo... how important will it be to add USB3.0 capability or SATA 6GB/s?

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ $111
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM ($70) Western Digital Black preferred. GPU: MSI N460GTX Cyclone 768MB @ $150 - 30MIR Asus or EVGA preferred. Optical: Samsung 22x DVD burner @ $17 Lite-On, LG, Asus, or Sony preferred. RAM: Crucial 4GB DDR3 PC3 8500 @ $65 Too slow - you need DDR3-1333. MOBO: MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard @ $70 Asus preferred, Gigabyte if you must. Case: Rosewill Blackbone Black Steel @ $50 PSU: Rosewill Green Series RG530-S12 530W @ $60 - 20MIR = $40 Not to be trusted - Seasonic, Corsair (except the CX series), or Antec preferred. OS: Windows 7 @ $100 Network card: Rosewill RNX-N300 IEEE 802.11b/g/n @ $30 Also look at ncix.com, they are frequently cheaper than newegg.ca. |

And ncix.com ships faster. And they also do price match in case newegg.ca is cheaper.
