For powering a 5970 I would get...
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply You do not want to go X58. This is an enthusiasts setup which can be difficult to get working correctly. Go with an 1156/P55 setup for better reliability. The speed is pretty much the same. I would pick an Asus board over the brand you chose. There is still no single card that is consistently faster than the 5970. At $500 USD, it has become a pretty good deal for what you get. The Sapphire 5970 you chose is fine. A faster and more reliable 2 TB hard drive would be this one... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-456-_-Product Are you certain you need a drive this large? You will not need a sound card unless you are an audiophile and have an excellent speaker system where you could tell any difference. Some of the higher end gaming boards come with their own sound card now. I do not see a case listed. With 8 gigs of ram you will need a 64 bit OS. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-754-_-Product The RAM you chose is not quite right. It is DDR2 and it is unnecessarily slow. I would pick this... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-279-_-Product If you can find it, get two sticks with 4 gigs on each stick. I could not find it listed. You will now need to pick a board (ASUS preferably) with an LGA 1156 socket, P55 chipset that is compatible with DDR3 RAM. http://usa.asus.com/ProductGroup2.as...yCKlQ4oSEtSu5m

Asus P7P55D-E Pro and an i7-870.
Use dual channel ram, the lower the voltage the better, with the P55 boards. 1333 speed is all you need unless you are going to be overclocking. Best hard drives of any size are the WD Blacks. |

As has been said, going with the 1156 socket and p55 chipset will be better for a beginner builder. The P58 is for experianced builders that know how to tweak the BIOS to get a stable PC. And would also add a regular HD for storage, the SSD will fill up quickly.

No comment, I already made my suggestions and I don't agree with your choices. Apparently you don't agree with mine and that is certainly your privilege, it's YOUR system, not mine.
