new build--what you think?

Alright so I updated my new build list quite a bit. Would like to hear what you guys think about these parts. I don't game so even that video card is probably overkill, but I like the passive cooling. Really concerned about keeping the computer quiet, especially at night when I'm sleeping as it's next to my bed.

COOLER MASTER HAF 932

ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760

Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9AD3K2/4G

CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power ...

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6402AAEX 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

HIS Silence H557HR1G Radeon HD 5570 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

SAMSUNG DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223L LightScribe Support - OEM

I've read that the caviar black HDD's can be a little loud. Are there any comparable drives (in speed and performance) that are quieter? I imagine when I'm not using the computer it won't be that loud (at night during sleep, etc), correct?

thanks for any help.

I'm not an expert so I can't critique your setup, but if you don't game I think it'll be helpful if you tell give an example of what sorts of uses you have planned for the rig? Good luck with the build.

There is nothing that fast that is quiet. If you want super quiet then look at the WD AV-GP's.

Get an 80 gig Intel SSD for your OS and a WD Green or AV-GP for your data.

I'm gonna stay away from SSD drives for the time being. too expensive right now. I think I might just suck up the noise and go for the WD black drive. Everything in this list though is compatible with one another, correct?

Yes, but I think I'd get a different brand DVD burner than a Samsung. Newegg seems to have a different one each day under $20 with free shipping. Today's is a LG.

well, my RAM is out of stock. What 4gb worth of RAM do you guys suggest I go with from newegg? I would wait for my RAM to come back in stock but want to order tonight.

thanks!

so if I went with something like this that is only $6 more after the promo code on newegg, would I notice much of a speed difference with 1600 as opposed to 1333?

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9

or these sticks...gets really good reviews for $59

1. Do not buy single modules. Buy a dual channel kit.

2. DO NOT BUY G.skill ram. Too many issues recently.

You CANNOT run ram at 1600 speed in a P55 without overclocking the processor. The memory controller is now in the CPU. It will only run at 1333 at stock speed.

If you really do want 1600, you can't beat this with the rebate:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M2A1600C9

To answer your question, you have to do a benchmark to see any differences in overall computer speed between 1333 and 1600 RAM...and then its only a few percent at best.

So that you can take advantage of dual channel technology?

RAM and their different model #'s really confuse me. So this one from buy.com will work with my mobo?

Buy.com - Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 X 2GB) DDR3 1600MHz 240-pin (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

good price and don't have to wait for rebate

good deal on RAM?

Is this a good deal on RAM considering I don't have to wait for a rebate? Lowest price I've seen so far. Gonna pair it with this mobo.

No. I doubt that memory would post with that board. In regards to price you may consider
