First build compatibility check

Hi, I'm getting ready to do my first build and have been researching it for the past few days and I think I've got all my components picked out. I just want to run it by some people who have done this before to make sure everything will work together and that I didn't make and poor choices or anything.

Here is my newegg list:

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...px?ID=12204434

Not sure if anyone but me can view that, if it doesn't work I'll post the list.

Thanks guys!

Post the list; that's a secure page for which one needs to have an account in order to view it.

Change that RAM to Crucial or Corsair. G.skill is having major compatibility problems at the time.

I would change the SSD as well, better controller

Newegg.com - Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Ok, so if I switch to different RAM and get that SSD, everything else is good? Also, that SSD is a SATA 3 as opposed to the old one which was SATA 2, will that make a difference as fas as compatibility or anything?

Also, is there a difference between buying a pack of RAM (3x4gb) vs 3 separate 4gb sticks? These two look like the same thing but the pack is more expensive than 3 separate sticks

pack

individual

Thanks guys

Packs are guaranteed to work in triple-channel. Separate sticks may or may not work.

It's an extra $40 for the pack, would you say its worth it, or should I just take my chances with the separate sticks?

Thanks

EDIT: also is there much of a difference between 1333 and 1600 RAM, I've been reading about it and it seems like a lot of places say there isn't hardly any difference

I prefer this memory for that board.

Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX

if your not into that price for high performance memory, I guess the question may be, why are you buying that board? In any event here is stable memory that will work fine but may limit you if you plan on overclocking... but perfect if you are not going to OC at all.

Newegg.com - Kingston 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model KVR1333D3N9K3/12G

ripjaws have had there share of problems with certain boards and chipsets. generally not recommended on this board.

If you are concerned about expense - I'd be looking at an Asus P7P55D-E Pro and an i7-870 instead of that X58 rig. That takes dual channel ram and is less fussy.
