Yes, it's recommended you use all 8 pins when the board and PSU have them.

Send a message via Skype™ to Nikon
with cpus < 100w only 4 pin power is usually needed, my i7-870 runs fine with only a single 4 pin connected, but my bros phenom II failed to boot until i connected the 2nd 4pin.

Woo hoo first post with new computer!!!!!

Well thanks folk's looks like you walked another rookie through it.This is the first post with the new computer.Windows 7 installed and updated.Microsoft security essentials installed.Looks like i am good to go.All i need is spyware and mailware any suggestions?

I did not do any tweaking to the bios just the factory asus ones looked good enough.Do you folks have any suggestions if they will be good enough for playing movies and dvd's music and such?

I still need to clean the wireing up a bit.

The case fan i could not get it to be monitered in bios.I pluged it up to the big plug then i trird to plug up the smaller plug to the mother board and The computer would not even start up.Do you have any thoughts on this?It is not really a big deal though just wondering.

Thanks for every ones help i am sure to be picking your brains for a lot more info as i get used to this thing!!!

THANKS SOOO MUCH!!!!!

That seems a bit overly cautious. Is there any reason to believe that things are not as they should be?

Yes - do this before you start putting things in the case:

PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

EDIT: 3 threads merged - please don't open multiple threads on the same build.

Sorry about the multiple post.It is all up and running minus the little plug for the case fan on the mother board other than that i am trucking along.

Thanks so much for your help!!

I will be probably moving to the other forums now to get everything set up just like i want it.

I still have to clean all the wires up and such but it is up and going.

thanks

On the case fan - when you say "big plug" and "small plug" I assume you mean a 4 pin Molex that connects to the power supply - and a 3 pin that connects to the motherboard? If so, you CANNOT connect both - it's either or.
