Flight Simulator X
I have A friend that wants to build his own computer and needs some help on choosing parts. The only game he ever plays is Flight Simulator X and wants to run it faster than 3 fps on low settings (go figure). I was wondering what parts would he need to choose to run it on max or close to max settings with about 35 fps. Could it be done under $500? He has all the Peripherals and a case.

Hi.
Flight sim enthusiast since MS Flight Sim 95 WAY back. Please do not reply for any follow-up from me, but just keep asking and checking around and you will find me correct. Unless you have a system with dual cards, 6 gigs or more of DDR3 (NOT 2) ram, and 3gig or higher chip, and a REALLY decent motherboard, you will NEVER be able to MAX OUT Flight Sim X. And this is WHY Microsoft allows us to tweak just about EVERY parameter imaginable within the game. If you want to learn as much as possible about ALL flight sims currently (and some of the OLD ones!) making the seen, just go to FlightSim.Com - World's #1 Flight Simulator Site For Downloads, Files, News, Reviews, Add-ons. From there, you can get all sorts of questions answered regarding ULTIMATE FLIGHT SYSTEMS. Bottom line, like a lot of things, you truly DO get what ya' pay for, and it DOES take MONEY to smooth things out. Good luck. |

Under 500 bucks? Absolutely no way. You might be able to run it acceptably for about $1000.
