2nd HTPC Build
I recently built a HTPC for myself and it turned out great. My dad wants to build a HTPC and he has about a 1,300 budget. We will be running Windows 7. It will be hardwired to the router and will stream to two Xbox's. This will be used with comcast cable and we are including a $400 Ceton digital Tuner card or the HD Homerun Prime digital tuner card. A couple of questions that I have is that should we spend extra for a MOBO that has USB 3.0? Is there a Blu-Ray burner that is reasonably priced instead of the sony cd/dvd I have listed? Lastly does anyone have a preference on Tuner Cards? I know the HD Homerun is not available and Ceton is on back order.

The Ceton is a different animal and it has no competitors that I am aware of. It essentially replaces that crappy dvr / cable box that providers are supplying and turns your HTPC into a DVR / cable box on steroids. I suppose the homerun one will be an external version of the Ceton from what I can tell. The build looks great. For the blueray burner, this is the most reasonable I could find that I know is reliable and works well, the cheaper ones are just drives and are about 50.00.
