The 970 might/is most likely an overkill and if you lowered your budget you could save some more money there.

The HDD could be changed to the caviar black. A HDD with 10.000 rpm is fast, but wears out fast. Try something with 7200 instead.

The ram is way overkill and even the most hardcore amateur renderers (after effects etc etc). The only place I could see the use of that much ram is in a professional company that renders for a living. I would recommend changing that.

The motherboard and CPU are not compatible. The CPU is a 1366 while the mobo uses 1156. If I read correct you would have to overclock the mobo to use that ram.

You would need an operation system (if you don't have one already) and an optical drive.

What are you going to use the computer for? What is your budget?

The ram and mobo will work, but that is still way overkill :P But if you have the money and want to spend it, go go go.

PCMechs most trusted recommend Western Digital over anything else, mostly because of the quality and support.

Other then that, I can't say much. I'm not as known with the Evga or Patriot. For that you would need someone like glc to look over. But at first glance everything seems ok

I would think twice about a refurb motherboard. I don't know diddly about it's specs, but why buy a board that has already been sketchy?

1156 instead of 1366....more stable. Or wait a few months for guinea pig certified Sandy Bridge boards to become available.

WD Black instead of Raptor...more cost effective, more reliable and the speed difference is very minimal.

Start out with 2 x 2gig DIMM's. If you actually need more RAM then add a second pair. Use Corsair 1.5V 1333 or 1600 RAM if the board you choose natively clocks 1600 RAM.... fewer potential problems. More RAM only speeds up your computer if it is using all that it has. If you ever need more than 8 gigs then chances are you probably have too many open applications.

Asus board instead of a Biostar...same thing.

The graphics card and PSU are good choices.

You still need to choose an operating system, optical drive and case.

Any decent quality ATX case will work. For medium quality I like Antec and Corsair, for high end Lian-Li. It mostly depends on what you think looks best.

Look here for Khalil's guide to the best computer hardware brands.

What Power Supply should I get? How many Watts? Who made it? Guide Inside.

I'm curious, why would the faster 6.0Gbps/64MB WD Black not be more suitable? The OP originally wanted a Raptor.

The one you listed is the discontinued model. I have the 2100 which is the current version. Killer 2100 What it does is prevent other factors from possibly decreasing your latency. It's useful in online multiplayer games where the amount of lag can make the difference between surviving or dieing. It's important to understand that it does not necessarily speed up your latency over the latency of your motherboards network processor, it does stop things from happening that might slow it down. One thing it does is give game packets priority over non-game packets.

I bought it not necessarily because I know it will speed things up but because I know that it eliminates things which could slow down my latency in games.

The sabertooth board doesn't support sata III, only sata II.

Because the Sabertooth doesn't have SATA 6.0.

If you need more than 8gb ram, you can simply get 2 of those kits for 16gb. Try it with 8 first.

I think the Killer NIC is a waste of money, but it's something you can always add later if you think it will help.

The 2100 is a waste of money if you are not a hardcore gamer who plays multiplayer games...even then it's of questionable value given what I said. It's probably the last thing you would want to buy for a high end gaming computer. In my own experience I am not getting fragged in FPS multiplayer games as much as I used to.

With the components you are using, any reasonable quality case will have adequate cooling out of the box.
