I have an old 775 build. Wanting to upgrade having some problem with current mother board. Wanting to be economical. Goals, eventualy want to go 3D, hear I need SLI for that. Decent gaming computer. Have the following in mind.

If you want a NF200 board, this is cheaper and better:
Newegg.com - ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer with NF200 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard I would also take a GTX 560 over a 470. |

1. Yes.
2. I can't answer that, I don't do AMD builds. |

Thanks GLC. I remember you helping me with my first build in 07.
I was thinking about trying AMD this time so I have a comparison. Hoping someone out there can help me better understand the performance differences between the CPU mentioned above and this one. Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDE00ZFBR BOX |

A 6 core processor is a waste for gaming. There's not a game out there that can use more than 3 cores.
The video card is a lot more important than the CPU for gaming. |

Main game I'll be playing is flight sim X. I've been told that it is a little more CPU dependent. Do I need a compromise between a good dual core CPU and GPU. While I run FSX I also run various applications in the background. Vatsim and air hauler. Will a quad core help in that case?
Thanks |

I'd recommend a fast quad core as the best compromise.
If you really want to do it right and can wait a while, when the revised Sandy Bridge comes out, that will be the best CPU for that kind of work. |
