First build, Is this spec good?

Hello, this is going to be my first build and I have spoken to close friends who are going to help me, they helped me with the specs as well. I know people say that intel is better and sure enough if I had lots of money and the sandybridge issue wasn't well an issue then i'd go with an intel build but i'm not. Here's my spec but i'm not sure about the MoBo, any suggestions are more than welcome

Coolermaster HAF 932 Black, High Air Flow Tower Case w/o PSU (New Version)
Samsung 1Tb Spinpoint F1 Hard Drive - HDD
Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±R, 12x DVD±R, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, SATA, Black, OEM
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, Thuban, Sok AM3, 2.8GHz, 9MB Total Cache, 125W, Retail
Asus Crosshair IV Formula, AMD 890FX, SAM3, PCI-E 2.0, DDR3 1600/1800/1866, SATA 6Gb/s RAID, ATX
600W Corsair CMPSU-600CX Builder Series, 80% Eff', 120mm Fan, Single 12V Rail, ATX, PS/2
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 Classic DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.5V
1GB MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC, 40nm, 4200MHz GDDR5, GPU 880MHz, Shader 1760MHz, 384 Cores

Apart from the hard drive all of these items are off scan.co.uk, HDD off amazon.co.uk

We aren't really Samsung drive fans here, and the CX series Corsair PSU's are questionable. You are missing ram. Asus and EVGA video cards are a better bet. You can save some money on the motherboard and if this is primarily going to be a gamer, you don't need 6 cores, a fast triple or quad would be plenty.

If your getting a gtx 560 ti why not get the gigabyte SOC version, its 20 bucks over reference and destroys the rest of the 560's in performance. The SOC version runs pretty much neck and neck with the GTX 570 and it cost 269$ from newegg.

The gtx 480 is a step down from the 560, it is slower puts out more heat and takes more power. I would not recommend that card over a gtx 560.

If you want a socket 1155 build, wait till April. The Sandybridge issue is not fixed yet.

You Brits sure love those Samsung hard drives - we hate them over here. What's the matter with the parts in my list? Coolermaster power supplies aren't that great either.

Best graphics card for £230

Any suggestions are more than appreciated.

Was going to go for either Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card or PowerColor HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 DVI HDMI Mini DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card

Check out the gigabyte gtx 560 ti SOC, make sure you look at the super overclock version, its 269 in the states and is on par with a gtx 570 reference.

Yeah I have already looked at that card before, impressive but just not quite what I want, plus I have had many people tell me not to go for it, I am willing to spend a little extra to go for a decent card like 6970...

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti SOC review

The GTX hangs right with the 6970 at 1920x1200, for $100 less. Seems like a decent card to me, however if you like the 6970 go for it its a great card.

Interesting, since I am new to pc building, the SOC edition, does that mean it's already overclocked or do i have to do that?

Its already overclocked for you, and has a warranty at those speeds.

Threads merged, please keep all posts about a specific build in one thread. Thank you.

What's wrong with the Corsair I recommended? It's a considerably better PSU.

If you buy that motherboard now, you will be returning it - trust me. Your vendor should be returning it, not selling it.

I won't be buying all this till beginning of March and by then MSI will have hopefully released a new motherboard and as for the PSU I will be going with your suggestion, when I copied and pasted the spec I copied an old one, sorry about that

I would prefer an Asus over a MSI. Don't count on new boards till April.

AMD owns ATI. You can use a 6950 in any build.
