the cpu is not on Asus' cpu support list for the MB selected. But the previous model (the 820) is. The board may need a bios update to support it, I would suspect it may work any way. It may be Asus hasn't updated their list. I can't see any reason that cpu wouldn't work with that board. Specs match, just not on the list.

Looks like it'd be an excellent combo. But I'd wait for one of the mods to confirm.

what a great bargain on that proccessor $99! Newegg is even $15 lower than Amazon on it right now.

The new 840 model was a real close second choice for me, but I instead bought the HDX925WFGMBOX, mostly because my Gigabyte board specifically showed support for the new 925 version, but not the new 840 version, just the older 840 version.

I hope that combo can work for you! I too suspect it very likely will, it just may not have been proven yet. Try a call to ASUS.

The Asus support list is always completely up to date. If it's not on it, it's not compatible.

I couldn't find any ASUS board, all the way to the top, that shows support for that new processor, or any phenom IIx4 840 for that matter.

Gigabyte boards show support for phenom IIx4 840, but it's the 2.9ghz Deneb version. Shows nothing for the 3.2ghz Propus.

If you seriously want this very new processor, I would call ASUS, Gigabyte, or whoever, and make absolutely certain.... If not, you might want to look for a different processor. Board and/or BIOS revisions may make a difference also.

Current compatibility questions could be one reason why the newc processor appears to be such a big bargain.....

A bit of research reveals that the processor is really a relabeled Athlon II X4 650.
