New build advice

I am getting ready to order all the components for my new build and I would like a little feed back before I place the order. Here are the components that I am going to buy.

Rosewill ARMOR Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ,Full mesh design front bezel, comes with Six Fans

MSI NF750-G55 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM

I already have the graphics cards and power supply. My question is does anyone see a compatability issue with any of the components I have chosen? I really would hate to order everything only to find out they will not work together. Lol! This is my first build and I am really nervous already about it.

Thanks for your help and time

Avoid MSI and nForce chipsets. If you want to build an AMD-based machine, but a mobo with an AMD chipset from Asus or Gigabyte.

Avoid G.skill memory and save yourself lots of headaches. Good memory: Crucial, Corsair, Kingston and A-Data.

Avoid Seagate hard drives: they've been dropping like flies lately. Use a Western Digital Black.

Windows 7 Ultimate is a waste of money. Buy the Professional version, or if you fall in the "average user" category or are on a excruciatingly tight budget, get the Home Premium version.

I read graphics cards (plural). If they are Nvidia, you have no choice, you have to use a NForce chipset. What cards and power supply do you have?

I am running twin GeForce 560 Ti Frozr cards with a 750w power supply. And I want the Ultimate for running games in XP format. The others do not have that ability. Also changed to the Pro edition of Win7. I did not know it had the XP option as well.

Ok I have changed the memory to CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) and the HD to Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive. Any other ideas on what I need to change and is the memory going to work with what I have chosen? Thanks again for the feed back and your time.

The one I am looking at is RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply. The reason for this one is its SLI ready it says. I could care less about the led lights.

Right now I am running the Diablotek PHD Series PHD550 550W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply with just one card installed on my old HP.

The certification list is not out yet for dual 560's, but that Raidmax is not suitable. You are also playing with fire even trying to run one card with a Diablotek. You need to stick with high quality brands, and neither one of those are.

Stick with Corsair TX, HX, or AX - and a *minimum* of 850 watts.

Will this memory work with the MB I have chose? I know people do not like G.Skill memory but I have had really good luck with them.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500)

MSI NF750-G55 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Thanks for your time and feed back.

Too slow. You need 1333.

Why take a chance with G.skill when there are many instances of it being defective or incompatible recently? This is $10 cheaper after rebate:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

What's your boot order in the BIOS? Is the optical drive the first bootable device?

Yes. I think I may have it fixed. It is at 29% on expanding windows. I had to unplug it and unhook the hd then reattach everything. 49% now. So far so good.

Ok after many failed attempts at loading the new windows, I discover my HD is bad and newegg is sending me a new one. And.....they were really cool about it as well. But I have to say....I HATE this stock heat sink that came with the cpu. So if you have any suggestions on one to get for an AM3 socket, I am all ears.
