Advice on first-time build :)
Hey guys
![]() I'm looking to build a gaming pc, but I'm a complete novice (willing to learn). I have a PS3 for shooters, so am leaning more towards MMOs and RTS games -if that makes any difference. I want to make sure the computer slows down as little as possible when I'm running maybe a game on high-ish settings with a couple of tabs open on Chrome. I live in the UK, but I figured the budget would be around $750-850. My only other requirements are HDMi output (only to a 1080p TV), HDMi or other high level audio output (5.1) and power and cooling systems good enough for me not to have to worry about it dying on me. I also need a good wireless mouse and keyboard combo - I'm sitting on a sofa about 3 metres away so I can't have it disconnecting on me. I'll need advice on any minor components as well (eg: leads, static wrist-straps, tools, etc). 3D support is optional (if not too expensive) - but I'm not too sure if it works the same way with a stereoscopic TV as with a monitor. I'd be really grateful if you could help me out! ![]() Ta, Dan |

Give us a budget in GBP (quid) please. Indicate if any of the below does not have to be included in that budget figure and if you need anything else to be included.
Case Power supply Motherboard CPU RAM Hard drive Optical drive Video card Keyboard/mouse Operating system |

Ok, well my budget is £700, which needs to include all of the above (with Wndows 7, 500Gb HDD and a writeable DVD drive). I'd also like Norton anti-virus, which should be around a tenner. I also don't want to spend any more than £40 on the case - not bothered about lights, etc - just want it to look tidy and cool well.
Thanks!

Why do you want Norton? Microsoft Security Essentials is free and does the job fine.
