Ace Ecco 420 pwr/hdd led
I just recieved an Ace Ecco 420 and have almost asembled the whole computer. I am just about to connect the pwr, reset, hdd led and pwr led to the mobo (asus p7h55), but the two last ones need to be on the positiv and negativ sides. How do I know what is what seeing that the cables only are marked with name, not pole?
EDIT: Added a picture in case that makes it easier to help me/see what is what ![]()

If put on the wrong way, can it damage anything? If not, I'll just try and fail until it works.

Reversing them will not damage anything. If you reverse the power LED it just won't light up, and if you reverse the HDD LED it will be on constantly.

Another problem popped up. I got everything working (or so I thought). All the fans (3) spin, the lights are lighting up etc. I put the ram, mobo, cpu, gpu, psu, hdd and od in the case.
The first time I started up the computer it worked, but I'm not sure what I heard. I THOUGHT I heard something zap so I turned the comp of asap. I smelled a smoky smell like when starting a radiator after not using it for a while, but thought nothing more of it. I turned the computer back on and everything seemed fine for about 10 minutes. I turned it off and moved it closer to a monitor. When I had set it up I turned the computer on, but no picture came up. Again all fans are spinning (including GPU), everything is put in the correct place (I'm 99.9999999% sure), yet nothing shows. I tried the TV (with RGB cable) and that didn't work either. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Parts can be found here (towards the end). At first I didn't see it fit to post in that thread, but if you mean it is feel free to move this one

Edit: The i3 540 in your thread has integrated graphics, not the i7 860 in your sig.

Yep, test it without the video card first if you did use the H55 board and the i3.

Update
I finally got the time to troubleshoot the build. I took apart the whole computer and put all parts (including the PSU, excluding the mobo) into another computer. It started up fine. I also tried only having the CPU and RAM attached to the p7h55-m mobo, but that did not work. I guess that smoke was the mobo frying. I've e-mailed the website I bought the parts from and I am waiting for their response. |
