time to update my gpu?

Okay, it's been a good year and 4-5 months since I built my PC with the help of you wonderful members. I'm guessing it's time to update my GPU, specifically for a MMO (Rift) since I get 30-40 fps on high settings. I was looking into getting a second card and using crossfire but it seems that Rifts frame rate doesn't improve much (if at all) using crossfire.

So again, I ask for your help. Here are my system specs copied from my old thread...

What's your budget? Does your game work better with ATI or Nvidia cards?

I'd prefer to stay under 300, if 200 dollars is doable that would make me happier but 300 is the max I would spend on a new gpu. I prefer ATI (no real reason) but would go either way if one is better bang for the buck.

This might help. You can see their relative speeds and prices under a number of different benchmarks.

The 6950 seems like a nice fit for you under the 3DMark11- Gamer benchmark. But check the other benchmarks as well

This is a better article that doesn't make you wade through benchmarks:

In his price category, that article recommends the 6850 at $180. I respectfully disagree.

It's in a tie with a GTX 460 1gb in the $180 category. Next step up is a 6950, rated best in the $250 (1gb) and $280 (2gb) categories.

To me in the 200-300 range there are only two choices, the gigabyte gtx 560 soc, or the 6950 2gb unlocked to 6970. Both preform at levels much higher than their price range, the 560 soc performs like a 570 and the 6950 actually becomes a 6970.

Finally ordered a sapphire 6950 this morning. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Looks like a promising card.

due to car troubles I never actually purchased a new card yet. I went to do it this morning and noticed the card was out of stock, but the SAPPHIRE 100312-2SR is available.

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100312SR Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

vs

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100312-2SR Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Is there much of a difference or at this point should I look into a different card?

Thank you all in advance. I appreciate it. Guys are my saviors ^^.
