My First Build! (need help)

Hey guys this would be my first build. I have been looking around for awhile now and this is what I have come up with:

http://secure.newegg.ca/WishList/Pub...umber=15832232

Budget: $1300

What do you guys think? Is it all compatible?

Any help would be appreciated!

I would recommend the following changes to your wish list.

Motherboard --> Asus as opposed to Biostar.

Newegg.ca - ASUS M4A87TD EVO AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Memory --> Corsair,Crucial,A-Data

You can look at the following:

Newegg.ca - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M4A1333C9

As far as a harddrive goes. I would switch from seagate to a Western Digital Black drive.

Video Card: Looks at Diamond,Asus,HIS. All have excellent customer support. As I recall, Shappire is shaky in the customer support aspect of their business.

I'll revisit this thread later when newegg.ca isn't taking 5 minutes to load each page. I do have some recommendations for changes.

Case - ok

Ram - Newegg.ca - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

Video - Newegg.ca - HIS H695F2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

PSU - Newegg.ca - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

CPU - ok, if that's what you want.

HDD: I don't trust those hybrid drives. For what you are paying for that thing you can get a very fast 1TB drive.
Newegg.ca - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Windows - do you really need Professional?

Mobo - I will defer to others, I don't do AMD builds - but I do recommend Asus over Biostar. Make sure it is SATA 6.0.

You are missing an optical drive.
Newegg.ca - LG Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM SATA DVD Burner - Bulk - CD / DVD Burners

You have budgeted $1300 so I think you are selling yourself short on a $155 CAN processor. For your budget I would reconsider and get one of the Sandy Bridge socket 1155 processors. It's newer and faster technology and not all that much more in price depending on which one you choose.

That power supply is now $124.99 at Newegg.ca. There's a $20.00 rebate to bring it to $104.99. Free shipping too.

Never assume you will actually receive your rebate. I never figure it into the bottom line price. I think some of these companies would rather sell their children as slaves before cutting a check for a rebate.

The 650 TX I recommended is 20 bucks less and has the same rebate. You don't need the extra 100 watts.

Ya I wasn't suggesting otherwise. Merely pointing out the price-point on the OP's wish list had decreased. Couldn't quote his list so I tagged onto your deciphered version.

Only one - do not buy a recertified hard drive.

Recertified is kinda funny. You should not take them apart if you are not in a clean room therefore all you can do is wipe the drive and the fingerprints, put it in an anti-static bag then call it recertified.
