Advice?

Alright, so guy on another site told me to come here to get more information. Well, so far....
Newegg.com - MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Msi p67 gd65

Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K Intel Core i7

This is what I've figured out. The computer's Primary focus will be gaming. It will also be used for djing, and a little bit of fiddling with music production. Well, where do I go from here. Lol. I believe he said, case would be next, but. Just my opinion. Case would be last because of all the diameters.

I'm a n00b too, but I do know that the only reason you want the 2600k is if you are going to overclock your PC. I was also unsure if I wanted the i5-2500 or the i7-2600. I said no to the 2500k and the 2600k because at stock its the same power. Only difference is that the "k" means its unlocked for overclocking (ahh I'm learning :-) ). If you check out the thread I started its basically the same deal as what you're looking for-except I'm not heavy gaming (photo editing and light gaming). If you are overclocking disregard everything I have said and wait for someone who is far more experienced than I...actually, do that anyways. haha

Overclock? He said something about that, but I didn't understand that term. I'm as noob as it get's when it comes to computers. I can do small repairs, on stardard computers, so this is a huge step for me.

Welcome the both of you to PCMech.

First, I would select an Asus board over an MSI board. This is why....Motherboard Brand Rating
Khalil's company has built thousands of custom computers, so he knows his stuff.

With an unlocked multiplier it is relatively easy to speed things up. Much easier than overclocking with what was once called the FSB. The multiplier times ex-FSB equals CPU clock speed. If you are at all into computers eventually you will get the urge to overclock, especially when you want to speed things up some.

Well, I've fixed up a mostly built computer for a test run before on a MSI board. (It needed ram, and a hard drive). Well, All I had near was 512s and a 60gb harddrive from a really old computer. XD Worked to. Sadly the story goes. When I took them out, mom's friend said he'd put in nice ram and a hard drive. They ****ed me. I never seen it again. Luckily I found the computer when my mom was scrapping. So it was free.
But yeah, I like MSI board, and do know a little about them. If I make a second computer I shall look into Asus.

But anyways, After finding a motherboard and Processor. What's next? He has a list of all kinds of things to look at, but lol. Didn't really give me some type of order to go though.

For things like this that can get complex real fast, it is faster to deal with someone directly rather than through an intermediary. Why don't you have your friend set up an account here?

I'd assume he has one if he had showed me the site. Well, I got another friend on FB who I'm talking to directly now. He's breaking down everything. To help me understand all the fancy terms. Plus, right now. He's directly helping me pick out what would be good.
