Need Help With Fans On New Build
Hi. I just finished building my first machine. I am using a Sentey Burton Extreme Division case which has several fans. I powered up and everything seems to be ok except that most of my case fans are not working. There are side panel fans, top fans, a back fan and a fan at the front. The only one working is the back fan. The only connector I have found from the case which appears to be for the fans is a single molex with just 2 male pins. All of the fans seem to be linked onto that and I cant see anything else for them. I connected the molex to a molex from the PSU which is labelled "FAN" and has just two wires attached. A smaller male connector also hangs on the same FAN cable from the PSU but I am not using that because I cant see where that would go. Any help here would be hugely appreciated. I wasnt really sure how to best word this question to make it clear so im sorry of theres any confusion.
The pc is fitted with; intel i52500k asus p8p67 MB 750w psu 8gb ram |

Case fans run off 12 volt DC. So all that is necessary to power them is a yellow 12 volt positive wire and a black 12 volt negative wire. Motherboard fan power ports have more wires where the extra wires are for measuring fan RPM.
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...w=1377&bih=876 In the bigger picture, you only need to run as many fans as you need to keep your case adequately cooled. Otherwise, with all those fans running the only thing you are accomplishing is to generate unnecessary noise. It is the trend now to sell cases with many fans. In most situations it is overkill.

Can you try connecting the fan to a different molex connector from the power supply?
Do you have any free connectors? If not, unplug a known working connection and try your fans on that one. |

Don't use the "Fan" Molex. Use one of the standard ones. The "Fan" is not designed to power multiple fans.

thanks for the advice. I switched it to another standard molex and they all powered on immediately. The only problem I having now is that the fans are very sluggish. They should be moving a lot faster IMO. Because of the way things are configured I have no control over the chassis fan speeds. I can not work out how to connect the fans to the MB for speed control. The wire from each of the fans leads to tiny plug that attaches to another plug which seems to lead up to where the power button is. I cant get the case opened up enough to see whats going on up there but basically all of the fans appear to be directed up there and the only thing I can see coming back from that end is the power molex that I am currently powering the fans with. I see a socket labelled ChassisFan1 on my MB but have no idea what I can connect to it.

Sounds like the fans are all running through some kind of controller. Do you have a link to the instruction manual for your case?
