Kind of conflicted
Hey guys I'll be building that first computer in early June (and I know that the market will have changed and all that good stuff) but I had a question about video cards. This computer will be for gaming, specifically Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, but I would also like it to be able to run games in the future that I don't even know about yet of course. So my question to you guys is
Is the GTX 590 worth the money for my needs or should I get the GTX 580? Or even, should I go lower than that? Which card gives me the most bang for my buck considering what I will be using it for? Thanks |

I am in the same boat as you. I'm going to get an ASUS 570, they are just a bit lower on the benchmarks and can be OC'd to match a 580. The 580's are running close to $500 now, with the 570's in the $350 range. All the reviews I've seen for the 570s state they handle everything thrown at them at max FPS..good enough for me. I've never been one to max out my system..the damn components cost too much for me to justify a few extra FPS on max settings.
590's...that is a lot of $$ to spend on something..not even an option for me. |

i'm going for the 580 at 525$. i thought about the 590, but 700$ is way too much. I admit that 570 is still really good.
Depends on ur budget i guess. |

Right, I mean I don't know much but I assume the 590 is more for people playing on 3 monitors and such? Does anyone have further comments on 570 vs 580?

yea well it depends on what you wanna do. i was watching some youtbe newegg videos, and they were pushing gaming to the extreme to get the best results. And for that they were overclocking the i7 2600K to somewhere near 5ghz and they actually had 3x580 running together.
Personnaly, i just want to play on one screen at max resolution which is 1920x1080. So all i need is a 580. I wanted a great card so it could last longer for future generation games. And the 570 can get really close to the 580. So if your budget can't handle 150$ extra, i would definetly go for a 570. On my side my budget is around 1600$, so i can go for the 580. But can't go for the 590. |

It's really hard to predict the future with gaming computers more than about a year out. Get the card that works for you now.
You may want to go on YouTube and see what frame rates etc others are getting for the type of system that you are considering.
