New $1,300 Gaming Build
Hi everyone. I知 kinda of new here but I have been watching other peoples builds and researching for a while now. I want to build a gaming PC but also use it for other things (web, college, work). This will be my first ever build so I知 hoping all goes smooth (wish me luck). Since I知 coming from a laptop I will have to buy all components including monitor, OS, keyboard ect. I want to be able to play future games like Battlefield 3, and Skyrim on good settings. I知 finally ready (I think) to press the go button and get this thing started. Please see proposed system below. I appreciate any comments, suggestions, or fat trimming measure. Also please give me a sanity check for compatibly..

Items that should be changed:
1. The Rosewill PSU. Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply 2. The G.skill ram. Newegg.com - A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333B2G9-DRH 3. The Hitachi hard drive. Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive I know this increases the cost, but you will have a more reliable computer. If you must cut costs, downscale the case and/or get a smaller hard drive - still a SATA 6.0 WD Black. You could also save significantly with this monitor: Newegg.com - ASUS VH238H Black 23" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 ASCR 50,000,000:1 |

GLC, thanks I've made the changes you suggested with the PSU, RAM and HD.
Do you have any mid tower suggestions? I leaned towards a full tower beacuse I've heard temps are lower, easier to upgrade components, and I heard the 6950 is rather large. Would I have any temp issues with the system above in a mid tower? How about size issues? Also, I could save about $25 going from the 2GB 6950 to the 1GB. Any suggestions? Is the 2GB worth the $? Thanks. |

The extra 1gb won't help you when you are gaming on a single monitor at 1920x1200.
Look at this case: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case |
