Current build advice
Working on an 1155 build, and ive just about got everything in and of course forgot to get ribbon connectors for the DVD/RW drives, so gotta pick that up tommorow. Also i was plugging in the front SD/Card reader and USB port, and wasnt sure where exactly to put it, so i just plugged it into my USB91 port(Traditionall usb 1.0) I was wondering, is there any better place for these on the sabertooth boards? I have my front USB ports hooked up to my usb 2.0 plug, but am also curious would it be better to put it into the 3.0 slot, then the Card reader into the 2.0 slot? Thanks for any and all help.
So far ive gotten most of my parts from newegg, but they kinda screwed me on my monitor, sent to wrong address, then returned it to their warehouse, told me to re-order it, and now its de-activated. |

The Sabertooth does not have an IDE controller, you can only use SATA drives. Didn't the board come with enough SATA cables?
Unless your front ports are USB 3.0, they can only be connected to USB 2.0 headers. There are no USB 1.0 headers, all the headers on the board are either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0. DO NOT CONNECT the card reader until AFTER you get Windows installed or you will have drive letter issues! Have you done this yet to validate the core components? PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!! |

I should have gone through with the core component check, but turns out everything has gone perfect so far. Currently typing on the new rig atm, and installing crysis warhead at the same time. Getting used to windows 7 still. The sabertooth came with 4 Satas, i was wrong, and was going off of dated instructions that still use ribbon connectors. Just used my 2 extra Sata3GB connectors and cleaned up and plugged her in. I had one issue of the heatsink being too loose but after that smooth sailing. *knock on wood*

Okay, ive basically got everything up and running except, the computer is only utilizing/recognizing one HDD. Im using 2 of the same 500gb 6gb/s drives, and on bootup it shows them being recognized, but just when i go to my computer the other is not visible. Im not wanting to run RAID, im just wanting to have two seperate drives, where i can save on whichever i choose. What do i do here? Also thanks a ton for the help guys, woulda been dead in water without your help.

If there is any data on the drive that is not being recognized, you must put it back in the old computer and copy the files or use a sata/ide adapter to move the files off the drive.... I assume it is new and if so, all you need to do is what is described below.
you have to go into the disk management snap in and initialize the second hard drive. To see the drive initialized you will need to go into "Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management" in order to perform the following action. To initialize new disks 1. In Disk Management, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk. 2. In the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk(s) to initialize. You can select whether to use the master boot record (MBR) or GUID partition table (GPT) partition style. Note The disk is initialized as a basic disk. Additional considerations * New disks appear as Not Initialized. Before you can use a disk, you must first initialize it. If you start Disk Management after adding a disk, the Initialize Disk Wizard appears so you can initialize the disk. This is right in the menu bar>help option when arriving in the Disk Management tool itself. |

Edit: Nvm, i basically just took the left over space (near all of it) and jut formated another partition which is now functioning beutifully. Thanks for all the help guys, you rock.
![]() Okay, few more slight issues. Whenever i go to start up, soon as i hit the power button, it attempts to start, goes through a short cycle, then stops(nothing is ever displayed this whole time), and then boots up fully as if nothing has ever happened. I also dunno if this is normal, but it still shows my Motherboard screen. Like on boot up first thing i see is the Sabertooth Tough screen, also says press DEL to go into bios. Also on full boot up, im getting one single beep, short and only once per boot. Anyone know whats up? Last edited by Deathdiesel; 04-20-2011 at 11:35 PM. |

Really? One beep doesnt surprise me, but its supposed to do like half a cycle then do a full boot up? Why is that?
Edit: Back to hard drives, i messed up somewhere. My main hard drive with all my programs and my OS saved on it is now NTFS, and isnt allowing me any access to it. I tried to go back into computer management and fix it, but now all the links under Administrative tools arent working. Help please. Last edited by Deathdiesel; 04-21-2011 at 04:31 PM. |

The half-boot, dual-boot is annoying to everyone; I've even gotten a triple-boot after overclocking. And once I had to change the battery to boot past that. I don't know about the beeps because I can't hear any the past few years. I have thus far read of 3 different fixes, none of which have worked for me. And what works on one guy's pc seems not to work on another. The easiest to check, and worked for me on 2 cold boots but then back to annoying - in BIOS changed Ram Frequency from Auto to whatever you have - 1333, 1600, etc. Seems it shouldn't make any difference in Auto but it did for others. Hoping a BIOS update out soon.

everything sounds normal to me. Not sure what you are talking about. that short half boot? I believe the slight delay maybe the result of the EFI BIOS which is an advanced graphical BIOS found on enthusiasts boards.

It does not allow me to access one hard drive at all. It boots fine, but anything on the Program and OS HD is like sealed from me, i need to find a way to re-open in from the NTFS mode, how do i do this? Considering i cannot use computer management tool.

At this point i cannot even restore the drive to a previous version, its as if its not even connected at all except it still shows up. I cannot save anything, or load anything.
