starting my build need answers
My Asus 6850 HD card has two female connectors on top. It came with two pigtails, each has a male connector to match the ones on the card on one end and two molex type on the other end. How much of all that is needed to power the card? Also the PCIe connectors on my PSU look just like the ones on one end of pigtail. I'm stuck waiting for an answer before I try powering it up for test. Help please.

The small booklet that came with the card is terrible and doesn't show anything like my card. There is a couple cds but they show nothing about hooking up the power to it.

I believe you'll need to connect to both 6-pin connectors on top, the pigtails are adapters for PSUs without the correct connectors.
I'm not the authority on GPUs, so any experts please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. Use the PCI-E connectors on the PSU without the adapters.

I've got it up and running. Thanks for the help with the gpu. It booted without a problem. I've loaded several games and it seems to be fine. I'm on dialup and it seems to be alot slower than my old pc I guess it could be the Norton AV that came with the motherboard. I'll use it till it runs out and go back to AVG. Thanks again, you all baled me out again and I couldn't have done it without you.

I'd get rid of the Norton NOW and replace it with MSE.

It's the 2nd of May and my PC is running very well thanks to the help I got here. GLC, will I have trouble getting rid of Norton and is there a free AV out there that is reliable? I don't do any file sharing or online gaming. Just info gathering and some shopping. If I need to go to another forum just let me know. Thanks
I've used AVG Free for years and Have never got a virus. |

Like GlC said, use MSE instead of norton or anything else. Just google MSE and you'll get a direct download from microsoft

Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials
Hopefully, Norton will uninstall cleanly. |
