What is the system for? High end gaming? Are you overclocking?
Recommend Antec earth watts or Corsair power supplies. And you'll only need 650 watts if you are running a single graphics card. Get a WD Caviar Black HDD. Corsair, Kingston, Crucial or A-data RAM That case looks to already have 4 fans, so the other 2 are just noise makers unless you know those included fans are garbage. |

Also, we prefer Asus, Diamond, or HIS video cards. I may be changing my opinion on Sapphire when I see the results of a RMA request I have pending.

its for gaming , and im gonna overclock , the asus is more expensive , and the ram is specially designed for sandy bridge , thats why i chose it , is the WD better than the samsung ? i read some reviews that say otherwise ... whats wrong with the sapphire? should i get the 6970? i wanna be able to play battlefield bad company 2 and battlefield 3 with very high graphics

Designed for doesn't mean quality. Don't get caught up in sales hype from a web-page/vendor that is trying to take your money. =) . G-skill has had some issues lately and the masses here are not entirely sure their problems are fixed. The RAM listed above has been recommended due to their quality, testing before shipping and overall customer service should a problem come up.
The 6970 is their "beast"..it is up to you if can afford it. Yes, Asus costs more, but if you are a gamer, this is one area you should make room in your budget. Get a solid PSU and a great card, $20-50 more for a quality card when spending almost $1400 seems reasonable to me. |

I'm not completely throwing Sapphire under the bus - they are well-made cards, the issue has been with the lack of end-user support. This may not be the case any more.
WD is in the process of buying out Samsung's hard drive business. Historically, Samsung drives have not been very reliable. You should get a SATA 6.0 drive, preferably WD Black. If you want an absolute top quality modular PSU, look no farther than the Corsair AX750. If you want to save some money, a 650HX will be plenty for that system. There are a lot of satisfied G.skill customers, but there have also been some nasty issues. I prefer to stay away. |

Yep, that's the HDD (assuming you want 1 Tb!). As far as I know the PSU and RAM are good choices too and you shouldn't have any issues with the Hyper 212+ fitting with that RAM. Its only a problem when you're trying to apply the much larger heat sinks like the NH-D14.

I prefer EVGA cards (beautiful drivers) for NVIDIA, (PNY for workstations). ASUS or HIS (they pay attention to detail) for AMD (ATI) (ATI for workstations). I used to use Saffire but too many issues in the last year, year 1/2. They have done something different and I have no idea what that is. I mainly stick with NVIDIA these days, I do not care for the catalyst control center. I like the ATI cards a lot though

If you aren't buying the parts THIS WEEK, you are going to have to come back and review the list. Things change almost on a daily basis.

hi guys , im gonna build my pc next month but im a noob at this ,
i looked up these 2 MB and noticed that the asus p8z68-v pro has a dvi port, vga port and hdmi port but the p8p67 pro has neither , so how am i supposed to plug in pc monitor? link to the p8z68 MB :Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! link to the p8p67 MB : Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! someone told me that u connect the monitor to the graphic card, so if that is true then why does the MB come with the dvi, vga and hdmi port ? thanks for the help ( ive already chosen the other parts you can find them here :Rate my future build guys :) |

The latter board requires a graphics card since it has no onboard graphics. A graphics card is required for the vast majority of games. Onboard graphics is fine for web browsing and other graphically undemanding applications. Check your applications for their graphics requirements.

Threads merged - please keep all questions about a build in one thread. Thank you.
If you are using a video card, there is no real need for a Z68 board. However, if you are thinking about ever adding a second card for Crossfire, you need the P8P67 Pro. If you aren't building till next month, come back a few DAYS before you are ready to order the parts for another review. Things may very likely be different then. |

The only physical difference is a 8 pin x 6 pin versus a 8 pin x 8 pin power connector configuration. The pictures nor the article describe which brand they used but they did not say that this mod to the BIOS is brand dependent, which makes sense. With these cards you don't need to worry about a bad BIOS flash because they have two BIOS's. Edit: I looked at the photos of the 6950's in Newegg. In looking at where the fan is located (to the right versus the center), it appears to be an MSI, HIS or Sapphire. But then again, I doubt being able to turn it into a 6970 is dependent on the brand. @ glc okay thanks ,but why is it better? i just like the looks of the msi but performance > looks so i dont know which one to choose.
@ glc what about this one : HIS H695FT2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity Newegg.com - HIS H695FT2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity ( i know you like HIS products ) so is it msi , his or sapphire ? and plz give me your reasons. @ David , yeah it doesnt matter which brand , what matters is the type of card , it should be a reference card . HIS is good. I'm down on MSI due to a relatively poor reliability record.

hey guys i just saw a video review about the gtx570 and radeon 6970 and radeon 6950 that made me think , here are the results :
fps with a 6970 on BC2 is 62.9 ( BC2= battlefield bad company 2) fps with the gtx570 on BC2 is 73.2 fps with the 6950 on BC2 is 58.9 however when they tested them on 3D mark 11 and metro 2033 4xAA and something else(i dont know what they are ) the best one was 6970 then gtx570 then 6950 . so its between the gtx570 and the radeon 6970 (but plz someone tell me why the core clock on the gtx570 is so low its around 780hz when the others are well above 800hz) the cheapest is the 6950 then gtx570 then 6970 , byt from the results of the test , looks like the best is the GTX570 ( the fps really surprised me ) which should i get and plz someone tell me what are the 3D mark 11 and metro 2033 4xAA bottom line : -is the core clock important? - gtx570 vs radeon 6970 thx a lot |
