Hi guys,
I'm building a new pc and have a question regarding SATA 3.0. I have the following components: Motherboard- ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 it supports SATA 3.0 6Gb/s. Hard drive- Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD5002AALX 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST 24X Internal DVD Burner - DVD±R 24X, DVD+RW 8X, DVD-RW 6X, DVD±R (DL) 12X, DVD-RAM 12X, CD-R 48X, CD-RW 32X, SATA, 2MB, Black, OEM at TigerDirect.com The motherboard supports SATA 3.0 6Gb/s and I purchased the hard drive because it runs at the same speed. On the back of the hard drive it says: "Jumpered pins 3-4 enables PUIS, pins 5-6 limits PHY to 3Gbps". So... my question is, do i need to move the jumper to pins 3-4 to enable 6Gbps or remove the jumper all together? My second question is regarding the optical dvd drive. It is SATA interface as well, however, the motherboard came with two different cables: one type for 3Gbps and another for 6Gbps. Which do I use on the dvd drive? Does it matter? Thank you very much for your help. |
