New Build just died

My first build. Last night I while I was installing software (after my OS and utilities install) my computer just died. It's an Asus P8Z68 with i7 2600. Everything seemed ok all the fans and lights working but after it died the only thing working were two lights on the MB one that looked like power button and a reset light, no fans, no case lights, no activity at all, anywhere. Also, right after the fail I pushed down on one of the CPU fan posts and it clicked a little. I switch out the PSU with a know good one and the same thing, nothing but those two MB lights. How can I tell if I fried my CPU or MB? If the CPU fried would that stop fans and case lights too? Do I have to go buy another CPU and try it? I'm at a loss, please help. Thanks

Remove the motherboard from the case and remount the heatsink PROPERLY. It probably shut down from overheating. Then follow this:
