Dilemma/Options
Well... I posted earlier on building a rig for LAN parties. Which I would only use about 5 hours every other wednesday. I am starting to think this is not an economical/rational choice. Would it make more sense to just put the money towards upgrades on my home rig and buy a carrying case/strap for my tower and just carry that? For as often as I take my computer out of the house, I just can not see where it makes sense to build a rig seperate from my main one. I do not go to LAN's out of town for all weekend events or nothing of the sort. Just 5-6 of us meet up at a computer store and play some games for about 5 hours. What would you guys suggest? And if you suggest using a carrying case for my tower... which is a good high quality one that can withstand a real good amount of weight?
Thank you! |

ALSO.. by doing this... this will free up a spare monitor I have to use in my bedroom to hook my xbox 360 up to to use as a media extender for recorded tv in my bedroom.

A strap should be fine. The only thing I'd do when moving it is open the case and stuff a bunch of bubble wrap in to keep the heatsink from bouncing around and possibly coming loose or breaking its retention mechanism.

that doesn't build up static electricity? Also, what kind of strap do you recommend for a heavy case. You know how heavy a case can get when it's geared from gaming.

Buy a Lian-Li midtower aluminum case. It's unnecessary to lug a steel full tower case around.
You can buy nylon webbing at most hardware and boating stores. Fold over and thru-bolt the straps.
