I need help PLEASE!!!
forgive me i am computer illiterate. I need help putting a list together for a gaming pc for under $500. I have a case with a 450W supply. I had a dell xps i7 that went corrupt. It was only a year old but i have no idea what to do about bulding a gaming pc. I think my "friend" took advantage of me because I have no idea what all this stuff means. All I want is a nice pc that will play games like call of duty and crysis. This tower he traded me i found out today does not have a genuine copy of windows 7 so I will have to bye it because i dont like having a non-genuine anything in my pc. I dont know the name of the case if that matters at all. I just need a parts list basically everything video card, motherboard, memory, power supply maybe if 450w is not enough. cd/dvd not imprtant rite now. Please help!

It may not be as bad as you think. Yes; $500 is not alot to work with, but if I undrstand right -you do have a working pc, correct?
I'd talk with your friend, sometimes windows doesn't recognize its own operating system. It's happened to me before. But even still, if you did get taken by this person and they refuse to work with you...open the case and lets start trying to identify parts. An OS and an upgrade may be doable.

I would try to get your original computer back. A true friend would do this.
